2002 Firehawk Or 05 GTO

the GTO rides like a Sedan not a sports car. that is why it handles like a sedan and not a sports car. Independant rear suspension makes the ride less violent but also makes the handeling very soft unlike a WS6 or a hawk. the GTO is going tobe discontinued after this year anyways. Can't sell something people don't want to buy.

Without a doubt and without hesitation... FIREHAWK! I was looking at GTO's and I stumbled apon a 2002 Firehawk T/A. I'm so glad I bought it. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

C'mon now
OK, maybe im new to this...but I have owned my Trans Am for 4 months now...I love my baby!...but at the same time I wouldnt say the Goat is a peice of **** car, now it is true, the Goat does have a Sedan feel to it (spacious cabin that can actually fit two full size adults in the backseats)but at the same time how can you call anything that packs an LS2 under the hood a Sedan??
I love them both, but I love them birds.

I liked the 05 GTO...it was quick car that seemed fairly well manned. It was also a little portly (even compared to the 4th Gen cars i've driven). For a DD i would be tempted to say 05 GTO.

Ok, I only read the first and last pages of this thread and I would have to say hawk over the goat, but who who said they would take the hawk over the Z06??!!! Z06 all the way in my book, no comparison...

My friend has a modded 03 Cobra. He likes my car, but doesn't seem real impressed with the GTO's. He drove one of the 400hp models that a coworker bought. The gal who bought it has always had new Trans Ams up until 02. She told my friend that she would rather have her Fbody back any day and that shes feels old driving the GTO and doesn't like the way it rides, handles, or feels.
I haven't driven a GTO, but a mechanic I talked to at the local dealership said its a completely different beast, and even though it has the power, it's overall feel is more like that of a Grand Prix than an Fbody.

Then again, I am not too impressed with anything that GM is doing now other than the ZO6 and the CTS-V. If I were going to plunk down some hard earned money for a car it would be between one of those two or a Cobra.

I've been driving my GTO for a week now, and I had it torn apart last night installing some stuff... had to make a run for parts, so I took my WS6 to the store... and man... I could not believe what a piece of **** that car felt like after driving the GTO for a week.
Don't get me wrong, I love the **** out of my 'Birds... but the GTO is just a much more pleasant car to drive.

Buy the Hawk now, and wait a couple years when GM redesigns the GTO. I'm sorry but the styling on the GTO just isn't there. I'm not saying it has to look retro, but to me it's just lacking something.

I do like things about the inside of the GTO but I do prefer the Firebirds. As for the LS2 motor well my Hawk has a LS6 motor in it so the HP thing is not an issue in my book. Here is a unofficial breakdown from the guys over at the Firehawk board. I think the true total is 1505 now. there are a few that I think are not registered or soemthing.
