If it's a "stock" Firehawk, they are CARB approved and there should be no problem. Although I'd double check because I don't live in CA and don't know for sure. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Just going on what I know to be true.

I am considering buying a Hawk in Arizona (same color as 02Blue's above) and bringing her to San Jose. I was wondering if there will be any emission problems with them being stock? Anyone in California? Thanks.

Just bought mine today and it has an interesting story behind it as I almost didn't get to get it. If anyone's interested in a good story, let me know.

Basically what happened is, recently I got 2 years of back pay from a VA claim for being exposed to chemicals in the Gulf War 1991. It was approved in December, and they had an old address. So I found out, corrected the address, and they sent me $51,412 in backpay, plus I get $2,193 per month. Now, here's the problem:
Just BEFORE I got that, I had filed a Chapter 7 BK. My attorney said, unless I wanted the courts to take out $12,000 of that money, do NOT deposit it for 30 days after the file date, just in CASE they check my bank accounts. (I love attorneys when they are on my side....) However, he said in all his years, he has never known of anyone doing that, even to more "rich" people....they don't even ask for tax returns. Still, I wanted to play it safe. So I started shopping as I have wanted a TA for years. No problem, I can chill for 30 days.
I found a 2001 Metallic Blue Firehawk, auto, with 9,000 miles about 100 miles from here (San Jose). Found it on Autotrader.com. Been watching it and other just TA's for a few weeks. I called the sales dude (Rich) and said I would meet him today around noon. (they open at 8:30, he comes in at 9.)
So last night, I couldn't sleep. (4 hours). I decided to leave early this morning, and actually arrived there at around 8am. But when I arrived, there's a dude and his friend watching the same car!!! They even said "there's a nice 2001 convertible with just ram air a few rows back" and I said "that's nice" and I wouldn't leave. So NOW what do I do....the other sales dude (who owns 2 Firehawks and is in charge of a club locally there) comes out with the keys to let them test drive it. RATS!!! So I started thinking....
Luckily for me, Rich had told me to BRING the government check, so I did. So I grabbed it, and approached another salesman. Told him I was suppose to meet Rich at 9, those dudes were gonna grab the car, and I had a government check, etc... He says "come with me."
We spoke to the manager, he said "NO problem, we can deposit the check, and refund you the difference and you can wait the 30 days to deposit our check." I was like "alrighty then!!"
So while the dudes were test driving it, me and the other salesman (Tom I think it was) were doing the paperwork!!! It was FUN too!!! I kinda felt like an jerk...but nahhhhhh. She's MINE!! So the other salesman (Bob I think) had to show them the same convertible the other guys were trying to get ME to look at. But there's more...
The price was advertised as $28,996 and I was going to try to talk them down to $27,000 and give me a deal on an extended warranty. Well...the sticker said $27,210 so I said COOL. And I got a 72 month, 75,000 mile warranty that I can upgrade to 84/100,000 if I want later. Not only that, BUT the first owner put a new stereo in it (10 factory 500 watt speakers though) AND he also has installed what I thought were chrome headers....but they are NICKEL plated headers. Either way...she's MINE!!!!!
So now I just have to wait for paperwork to finish up, check to clear, tags, etc... and pick her up on Wed or Thursday. But taxes in Calif are KILLER.... $2,200 in taxes alone. ARGH!!! But all is cool. She looks and drives nice too. Of course, you all know they do!!

Just discovered my car is build #42 for 2001 which includes the Bilstein suspension and Auburn differential. I have to admit, I don't know much about those names except I hear they are good.

Pics after Zaino. The white fluffy things on the hood pic are clouds reflecting:
