That would be interesting. I never really paid attention to the B4C cars to see if you could get the 1LE opition with it or not. For the most part the B4C cars (at least the LT1 cars) were just Z28s with the badges taken off and a couple more spots in the fuse box for the police lights and stuff. Other than that I think they might of had stronger springs in the back to carry stuff. Like I said I don't know that much about the B4C cars...just seen them around.

I have one! 98 1LE Artic White with black top/mirrors. M6

As for the B4C, most of the B4C cars that I have seen do have both the 1LE and B4C codes on them. The difference was B4C added the bigger alt. and the power options back. (of course, I've been wrong before!)

Hey

2001 SS-1LE. Hardtop(not t-tops). Red. Six.speed. I was told this was the only Red/M6/Coupe--SS 1LE made. Can anyone verify this for me?

Thanks

Brad

U guys are getting confused..
1LE was not just a susp.,it was a no optioned HARDTOP F-car with better bushings, boxed control arms and springs rates.U couldnt get power anything but could order a monsoon and a few other little options.

Most of the TRUE 1le cars are Z/28's
If u have a no option hardtop V-8 camaro and u ordered it this way w/1LE and then checked SS option u have a VERY VERY RARE car.

I dont know if ANY 1LE FORMULA FIREHAWKS were built but that would be VERY VERY RARE too.I think there was a few too.

GM made very few 1LE WS6 FORMUAS in 98/99..
My buddy has one and he got it by mistake, the dealer didnt even know what he had and when my buddy bought it he didnt know about this option.Well he brought the car down to my shop and right away when I saw the WS6 option and no power anything followed by the hartop,I opened his driver door and there it was--->1LE.

Its one of 18 and I'd love to buy it..
Its safe to say the RAREST of the TRUE 1LE cars would be slp cars but again these would be HARTOP,NO POWER ANYTHING,CLOTH gut cars with the SS or FIREHAWK option.

I'd hold onto that car if u have one and I wouldnt mod it to much..
There gonna be worth $$$ in time.

NO TRUE T/A Hawk 1LE's were built..
Those were just 1LE susp. option T/A hawks,There rare but there NOT A TRUE 1LE car.

Default 1999 Factory Formula WS6 1LE

I have ASC# 1,884, built January 22nd, 1999. It is a mostly stock black Formula WS6 1LE. Has about 5,900 miles to date. Installed 4.10 rear, GMMG exhaust, and a SLP lid.

1LE.com considers my car to be a REAL 1LE. I believe all fourth gen 1LE's were just handling packages anyway. I don't think there were restrictions on options. I understand what you are saying in that it is not a factory 1LE, but in 01 SLP was the only way you could get it. OOPs sorry .net

Its as close to a 1LE as u can get for 01 amd 02 but SLP did build a few 98,99 no optioned hardtop 1LE SS's and Hawks which are SUPER RARE.Theses are real 1LE cars but I agree u have something thats considered a 1LE in a sense.

I'll say a 1998 1LE Firehawk is rare... real rare... They don't exist, SLP skipped that model year . SLP did build 6 cars for the 98/99 promotion, but they were purchased locally from dealers, and so they don't carry the WU6 option code. Not even SLP consider's them Firehawk's, they are just regular Trans Am's and Formula's with Firehawk content.

And the 1999's were GM built 1LE Z28's, upfitted to SS's by SLP - But the 1LE components were already in place by the time SLP got the car, they didn't touch the suspension. This can be shown at the following link, showing a letter from GM to a customer and citing the 1LE option as a factory one - If it was something built by SLP, GM wouldn't know how many were produced. It also shows that as far as the birds were concerned, the 1LE option could only be had on Formula WS6's:

http://www.1le.net/docs/99_formula_1le_production.jpg

You are right though, they are pretty rare, at 8 1LE SS's built (and only one hugger orange!). SLP wasn't allowed to build any 1LE Hawk's however. If there are any running around, likely they were built as pilot or test cars, and they would be *extremely* rare - I've never heard of any however, and I've been following the 1LE history (and Firehawk's for that matter) for years - That's not to say they don't exist though. Here's a link to a mirror of the 1999 Firehawk literature that states that it can't be ordered with the 1LE:

Yeah, I figured you meant that the cars got to SLP already equipped, wasn't sure though

Good luck on your search for that Formy, you'll need it! they were rare for all the years produced

At least we should be able to count on GM not bringing back the 1LE option on some "import tuner" cavalier variant .
