Stupid question Are any of the SS Camaro's hoods actually functional? Some people say they are and act as a ram air, but I don't see how since it is not sealed to the air box.. Also is there any kits to turn it into a functional ram air.. That is utilizing the hood and not adding mods like the cold air induction and ect..
Re: Stupid question if you have any gains from a ss hood it will be from cold air, not ram air. the idea of "ram air", from what i understand doesn't work from a physics point. i saw a show with warren johnson talking about how effective the scoop was on his pro stock car. he responded that only above like 190 would there any chance of building any boost becuase you have to go fast enough to overcome the amount of air going into the motor. the speed should be lower on a stock engine, but still you would stiil be going pretty damn fast. and if its not sealed you won't be any "ram air" anyway. ram air sounds just good from a sales point and it justified to the buyer why they where spending an extra $3995 on the ss package over a z28. just underrate the z28
