Back in January I purchased my second stripper SS. The first one was a white 1996 6 speed, no power windows and a hard top. The one that I just bought is a 2001 white SS. 30k miles, cloth, hardtop, no pwr windows, door locks, cruise, trunk release, or tc. It is pretty rare that this new one is an A4 and not a M6. It definately runs real strong, but I do miss the looks of my 1996 SS.

They DID make 1LE Camaro's in 2001. I just bought and parted out a 2001 1LE SS Camaro with the documentation to prove it was a 1LE car. I gave the documentation to the buyer of the suspension parts or else I would post it up to prove it.

Default 1le

The only thing that would make it a 1LE car is if the RPO code was on teh door sticker or you had the window sticker that said 1LE. SLP had an option that was similar to 1LE but not quite. Either way these cars are interesting.
I would like to purchase a black one with automatic if anyone knows of such a car I would pay a $1000 finders fee if the deal is completed.
I own a 98 black 1LE and I am the original owner.
Thanks,
Bruce

I came across one in my search for a Z28 or SS over two years ago, but it had about 70k miles on it and the owner wanted nearly $17k if I remember correctly.

1LE option was done by GM up till 1999, and then discontinued. The RPO 1LE forced the "stripped" Camaro . . .

But in 2001 and 2002 it was an SLP add on suspension option, but was available on virtually any trim level . . . FYI. So the true meaning of 1LE got some what lost once SLP took it.

No 1LE in 2000, as far as I know.

My car has weird options.

SS hardtop with cloth.

Power windows, power locks, and traction control. No rear defroster. Those are the main ones...

Yep, that's pretty much how they did it. The WS6 models up until '98 shared a lot of the same suspension parts as the 1LE also. The 1LE RPO code up until 1999 forced AC delete, no power accessories, hardtop, Koni adjustable shocks, and it was done on WS6 Formulas for the Firebirds, and Z28s for the Camaros.

And yes, no 1LE in 2000, and SLP picked it up after that in 2001, and it was only available on Camaro SS's and Firehawks... any trim level that was available on those cars. I also believe they switched to a Bilstein shock setup instead of the Konis as well.

FYI, they still used Koni DA shocks. My 2002 is a 1LE from SLP.

I WISH my car was a ILE. Hell, they only made about 100 per year if I remember correctly. The specs are on http://www.camaroz28.com if anyone wants the exact figures.

At least mine is pretty light (3360 without driver). It's a full-weight 1999 black hardtop 6-speed Camaro Z28 with power options, leather, rear defroster, traction control, A/C, CD player, etc. It is 3500 with my 140lb. *** in it.

Here is the full link for 1999 (just to get an idea): http://www.camaroz28.com/articles/99...rs/index.shtml

For 2001 it says:

There were no 1LE Camaros produced in the 2001 model year at Ste. Therese Assembly. SLP Engineering offered this option as a "second sticker" option.

I just picked up my stripper SS.

2001 hardtop, 6-Speed and rear defroster with 14,000 miles. I actually turned 14K on the test drive.

No Power windows, seats, mirrors, TC, cloth. I do believe it's pretty rare, I would love to know build numbers if anyone can get them.

I know my car is not a SS, but I too have the RPO code 1SC on my Z28.

Weird thing is, I do have rear defrost, CD player, chrome snow flake rims, and T-tops. Not to mention it is an A4.

I have yet to find a 1SC stripper Z28 in Monterey Maroon Metallic. Picked it up in Sept of 2005 with 38k miles for $12,300.
