Rear End Noise

Rear End Noise I was in a burnout competition and the next day my car is making a Thumping noise only when I hit the gas. The noise occurs even when I am not accelerating hard. It is a repetitive thump, thump and about a second between occurrences. It actually sounds like it is coming from the driveshaft, although I believe that the noise is just transmitting from the rear end. The last time I service my rear end was about 500 miles ago. I found alot of metal shavings and a piece of a tooth from the ring gear, but the car ran great and I didn’t notice anything until now. Anyone have any suggestions other than immediately changing the rear end?
If you were already missing a part of your ring gear and you kept driving on it you probaly did a lot more damage doing the burnout. Youre lucky though as Ive heard of people driving on broken gear sets having them seize up. Ive been through it myself, and the sounds youre describing are exactly what I had so Ill put money on it that you took some metal out of your gears. Which means youll have to have them replaced.
