I just picked up another '94 camaro a couple weekends ago with the intent of using it as a parts car for my B4C track car. While I was looking at it the week before the guy that owned it mentioned a story that the previous owner had relayed to him. He said that the car was build by John Hennessey of Hennessey Performance (yes the same one better known for their 1000hp vipers) and that it had been featured in an article in Motor Trend magazine back in the day.
Fast forward to this past weekend, I had put the car in the garage and noticed that it had Texas Dept of Public Safety registration stickers in the windshield from 1997. Since Hennessey Performance is based in Texas I got curious.
Monday night I emailed Hennessey Performance and relayed the story asking if they could shed any light on it...the next day I got home from work and had an email from John Hennessey himself asking what color it was.
I replied back last night with the color and VIN and received an email from him today confirming that it was in fact the same car!
I found out the car was featured in the 12/94 Motor Trend and in 7/95 Hot Rod Magazine articles, it was called a Hennessey RS330 Camaro.
I've located and purchased both magazines and asked Hennessey for more information but I guess I won't be parting this car out after all. My guess is that this was probably one of the first cars ever built by Hennessey Performance. I asked John if he wanted to buy it for his collection, we'll see what happens... 8)

It was in a minor accident that ruined the front bumper cover, fenders, hood and the driver's door and rear quarter panel. It sounds really bad, but it's not. I was originally going to part it out because I figured it was just a regular camaro and may not be worth fixing, but now that I know what it is I will either fix it myself or sell it to someone else who intends to. My only problem was that I had been working toward building my B4C into a road racing car, but now that will have to be sold to fund the build of the other car instead.
The upside is that the car now has a forged 383 in it that makes probably north of 450hp, so it will be a very very fun street car!

I'd love to post pics, but it's in the garage and it has slicks on it so if I pull it out into the driveway with the snow it's not going anywhere LOL! I've thought about it more and I'm probably going to sell the car, I really want to finish my track car and I don't have the resources or space to keep both of them right now. There's really nothing too special about the exterior of the car anyway, it's just another bright teal metallic camaro as far as that goes.

Don't worry, the car is still sitting in my garage. I did find out through some research the car is a B4C and not a Z28, which is funny because my other camaro is a B4C M6 '94 hardtop just like this one. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, but if I don't fix the car up my brother or Dad want to buy it from me and fix it up.

Can you scan the magazine articles and post them up? I haven't heard of this car before and it sounds really interesting. Particularly since it was an LT1 project.

Yeah, I'll try to get around to it one of these days. The plan at this point is to take the engine out (it's not the original one, it's a 383 stroker built on a corvette block) to put in my other B4C street/track car and then my father is buying the RS330 from me to rebuild as a street car.

I haven't had time to scan the magazine articles yet, but I do have an update on the car. I was going to put the drivetrain in my other car and sell the roller to my father, but I have decided to keep the RS330 instead. I just picked up a quarterpanel to replace the damaged one and will hopefully have the new panel installed in 2-3 weeks. I also have to have a new front bumper cover, hood, and fender installed (minor damage) and then I will have the entire car repainted in it's original Bright Teal Metallic. I will be driving it on the street but will also be using it for autocross and HPDE/open track days.
The car currently has a forged 383 Lt1 stroker with numerous upgrades, headers, and borla stainless exhaust with an electronic cutout installed. The front brakes are from a C5 Z06 and it has Koni sport shocks with front coilovers and rear weigh jacker/coilovers to allow for cornerbalancing. It also has tubular upper A-arms, LCA's and PHR, and I will be installing UMI tubular adjustable lower A-arms.
I will try to scan some of the magazine articles this weekend if I have time and will post them here. I am also going to have someone recreate the "RS330" decals for the front fenders, which was a reference to the HP of the original motor, but I will be changing them to "RS430" to more accurately reflect the 383's output.
