Z28 or SS Ok, I'm 80% sure my car is a Z28, but it has a couple signs of an SS. It doesnt have the SLP performance cold-air/exhaust. But has 3.23 gear, I thought the Z28's had 2.73's. Also, the VIN reads it as an SS, but maybe it was a mistake?
Anyways My car:
98' Z28 Camaro.
Automatic 4speed.
All stock ( i think)

There is nothing in the vin to indicate if a car is an SS or not. Only the SLP identification sticker and the SS code on the build sticker. Your car is a Z28.

How does the Vin read SS? There were no difference in the VINS..

RedJackal - You need to learn how to use the search button before you post anymore new threads. Not all SS's have SLP performance cold-air/exhaust, some have no options from SLP.
All A4 SS's have 3.23's like mentioned. Z28's have 2.73 gears unless they have axle performance option, then they have 3.23's as well.
Again like mentioned already, your VIN will tell you NOTHING by looking at it. You need to call SLP with your VIN, or again like already mentioned look at your door sticker to see a WU8 code.
1998_trans_am_ls1 - If you are not sure then DON'T post please. You only add to the confusion and incorrect information. NO LS1 came with 3.73's period.

And to add more confusing ALL SS vin numbers come back as Z28's . . . . the vin number will never indicate if it is or is not a SS.
