1997 SS RPO codes
1997 SS RPO codes I just picked up a 97 SS that has both the RT7 code and WU8 code. I thought that the WU8 code was exclusive to LS1 SS cars. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
From my 1997 30th Anniversary SS, I have neither the R7T nor the WU8 . . .
This is what mine has:
I have R7A and WU9 . . . ?
But from what I have found and noted . .
The R7T was the RPO code for the SS package in 1997 . . .
The R7A was a SLP option code . .
The WU8 was linked to the SS package . . . .
The WU9 was linked to the 30th Anniversary SS package . .

I only found one other website stating that it can have both RPO's, but it didn't go into much detail. My SS doesn't have a factory CD player or traction control, which I also thought was wierd.

so i know this is an old thread but i just got my rpo codes from the dealer for mine were not readable on the door and the glove box did not have it. i think the previous owner got rid of it, but i have the WU9 which is z28 anniv ss upfitter package and R7a genuine customer care package in my list. same with Z4C which is appearance package 30th anniv. so my question is to you is mine an SS??? or just a Z28??

WU9, is an SLP code related to the 30th Anniversary SS.
R7A is also an SLP code related to the SS.
Z28 is the RPO code for the Z28 package . . .
An SS will have a Z28 RPO code, since all SS's started life as a Z28 . . .
And YES every single solitry Camaro SS went to SLP . . . they installed the hood and spoiler at a minimum . . .

well i guess my car went to slp but for some reason they dont have a build number or any info so their gonna go through the system and find it. the woman their also said that mine camt with an lt4, so im pretty stoked even though when i bought it , it had an lt1 and i guess i will know more info when they call me back. so whoever owned the car before me really gutted it.
