I apologize to anyone who ordered a short stick and it was back ordered a few days.

But all the short sticks shipped today , it was well worth the wait, this is the best looking batch we have had so far.

Thanks for the patience!

Thumbs up

The UMI Short Stick I ordered arrived today, less than 24 hours after it was mailed to me. This has been the smoothest GP for me. Ryan replied to each of my e-mails extremely promptly, the UMI Short Stick was mailed out ealier than I expected, the UMI Short Stick was packed well, and I can't wait to install it in my car. Thanks to Ryan for everything.

No problem, just let me know when you are ready. I am only going to run the sell a few more days though.

Please anyone who calls please mention LS1tech so we don't over charge you. It has happened before so please let us know.

Also we had to raise shipping to $7.95 do to a UPS increase, but no big deal.

Thanks again

Ryan

Ryan,

I got the shifter in at my house last night and installed this morning. What a difference! I can't believe that where my third gear position was before, now is reverse! Awesome product. Now get to work on my SFCs DAMMIT!

<-------Me with my new UMI shifter.

Damnit! Unless there's some kind of magical way of installing this handle, it's not compatible with a B&M Ripper Shifter

I'm not a mechanic so I'm gonna have a couple of friends come over tomorrow to have a look-see.

The major set-back I see is the Ripper's handle t's at the base and continues to a ball where it inserts into the shifter housing and tranny. Looking at the handle I don't see how it will reach the transmission I'll find out for certain tomorrow

This handle's shorter than my Ripper handle too . . . that's what frustrates the most . . . I KNOW it would be a welcome improvement.

Well after some recent problems with the short stick I got a new application list below.

* The stick will not work on 93-99 Models running the stock NON-Hurst base.

However it will work on all 93-99 running the Pro 5.0 Base and most other aftermarket bases.

I have not heard or ad any problems yet with the 00-02 stock models. Seems everyone is liken it

Best Regards,
Ryan

Dragon, have you worked out the problem with the Ripper? Keep as posted as this could effect quite a few of us. Thanks!

Cool

Okay I finally installed my UMI short stick on my stock Hurst shifter last night. It took about 10 minutes from start to finish.
  1. Unscrew the leather gear shift ****. Mine broke loose without much effort.
  2. Pull up the leather shifter boot. Be careful, there are 2 tabs on each of the four sides on the thin plastic frame inside the boot and they break easily.
  3. Remove the two 13mm bolts on the right side of the shifter. An ordinary wrench works; the bolts are not super tight and there isn't enough room for a socket wrench anyway.
  4. Slide the Hurst stick up and out.
  5. Put the UMI short stick on the left side of the shifter and insert the two new bolts from the left side using the new lock washers. Make the new bolts finger tight. Others have recommended using one or two drops of thread lock or teflon "tape" to keep the bolts secure. I didn't use either and if the UMI loosens up then I'll use the thread lock stuff.
  6. Tighten the new bolts with a 6mm hex key.
  7. Pop the leather shifter boot back on.
  8. Screw the leather gear shift **** back on.
I haven't driven the car yet since doing this, but with the engine off and the key out of the ignition (and the parking brake applied) I stepped on the clutch and pushed the UMI short stick through the gears. So far so good. Reverse was very, very difficult - I had to use both hands - that might have been the reverse lock-gate thing. Tonight I'll do a test drive...!

You said that this GP will be lasting a few more days (that was on 11/5). I would be very interested in ordering one later on today or tomorrow if you are still doing this.
