I'm going to bed right now, but if you guys will wait until tomorrow night, I'll make a pic of the stocker and one of the AP "short shaft". I know for a fact that the stocker won't even fit in there (even though I have a $20 1350 Universal joint in it) unless I beat, bang and try real hard. Look for pics of each tomorrow night.

thanks again!
odd that so many are running the stock ds with x-joint. I'd think if they were jammd into the tailhousing so hard damage would occur!
scrudedude - can you peek under your car and see how much smooth surface of the yoke is out of your trans when car is on the ground?
yoke needs to be on the outer splines and in far enough to have the outer sleeve in the tailhousing fully support it. Should have about 1" max showing at the on ground position.

The first chance I get I will....

BTW, I already ordered but APE doesn't take American Express, so tonight I gotta take a peak at my wifes VISA card while she's in the shower. Then I will call it in tomorrow

Why aren't you taking a peak at your wife in the shower, instead of her CC? C'mon, get your priorities in order man!

Welp folks, money sent via snail mail. 'Wish they took AMEX , they'd be cutting my pole right now.

I decided to be **** and measure the stock driveshaft on Friday, and call it in.

Jump on it guys!

Dude - since you are using your stock shaft with a Strange 12 bolt as I will be, please check how much yoke hangs out of your trans along with measuring from u-joint center to u-joint center. I bet that is 41" - but how far into the trans is that putting the yoke?
appreciate it

thanks Dude!
please remember to measure how much yoke is hanging out of the trans plus the joint/joint dimension. Just the smooth surface that slips into the rear seal. Curious if your stock ds is only like 1/2" out of your trans and the shortened shafts have like 1"+ showing out the trans.

Default Measurements Taken

Ok guys..... I hope this sounds right, from the trans seal to the center of the u-joint 44-3/4 inches.

chief, the measurement you needed came out to 2-3/4 inches. We were really rushed because my friend is a Chevy dealership mechanic and we were doing this on the sly......and his manager kept coming around.

I hope this helps all...

Dude
awesome - thanks for taking the time
So you measured 2 - 3/4 from exactly where to where?
thanks again! So you gave them the big number to order your new shaft?

Yup, big number for the overall length, and the other guy at APE said it sounded right.

The other number was for how much yoke is out of the trans. It was kinda tough to do, we were fidgeting around because Joe Manager kept looking over to see what we were up to (that wasn't on the service order computer screen.)

Very cool. Hmmm, so do the stock driveshafts have some variance in length? Your 43-7/8" vs. my 44-3/4".

I hope I did this right....

that is not really the driveshaft length. it is the length between my tranny and my rear. used the method on denny driveshaft web site. front seal to center of rear u-joint. m6 to moser 12.

Worded differently, but we did the same thing. Did they give you a turnaround time?

Guy's all orders should only take 3-4 days tops. All orders that have been placed as of now are being worked on and should ship early next week.

Thanks
