Innovate still doesn't have any LC-1's ready to ship, there are over 400 on backorder. They said they'd be ready by the end of last week, but it didn't happen. There's supposedly one batch coming this week, and the next won't be available until the middle of May at the earliest.

********ATTENTION EVERYONE*********

I purchased an LC-1 with the new innovate XD-1 Digital Gauge. Upon purchasing my products from a vendor (Not Innovate Directly) I was told that the XD-1 acts as the "box" in the LM-1 Kit, and that it had the ability to data log and everything, just as the LM-1 kit does. THIS INFO WAS INCORRECTLY PASSED DOWN FROM INNOVATE TO MANY DEALERS!!!!!!! Turns out Innovate, did not finish their software in time (Log Works 2.0) and are shipping the units out with their current Log works version, and that version WILL NOT DATA LOG... Nor, will this kit datalog AFR vs. Rpm, with an RPM convertor, because the LC-1 is not compatible with the rpm convertor. So if you are advised that it does data log, IT DOES NOT. An expected release date for Log works 2.0 is within 3-4 MONTHS!!! Please be advised of this people!!!! Also, they quoted me that their next batch of these will not be ready until 8 weeks!!!! Aggghhhhhhh!!!

There seems to be a bit of confusion about the LC-1 out there.

Here is what the LC-1 does and does not do:

The LC-1 is not just an LM-1 without the display. It seems that allot of people have gotten the idea that an LC-1 + an XD-1 = LM-1. It isn't. The LC-1 is designed for use in multiple channel systems. To add a 2nd AFR channel to an LM-1 or to instrument 8 individual cylinders, etc. As such, it does not have any internal logging memory. Logging must be done with a serial device or PC at the end of the chain.

Also, the LC-1 is a single channel device. It does not have provisions for reading other analog channels like TPS, RPM, etc like the LM-1. i.e. you cannot connect the RPM converter to it. When the new firmware for the auxbox is released, it will be able to do this via the serial chain. A log of just AFR without RPM and MAP isn;t real useful.

The XD-1 is a serial display unit. It is also designed to be in a chain of multiple XD-1s, & LC-1s. As such, it does not have any logging memory either.

Both of these devices make use of the new "Serial protocol 2" This is the new 32-channel version of the serial protocol. The current version, as used by the LM-1 and LogWorks, only allows for 6 channels. Obviously, no good, if you are looking to log 8 cylinders worth of AFR; which is what the LC-1 was designed for.

LogWorks 2.0 ( http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/f...ead.php?t=1150 scroll down for screen snaps ) can read the 32-channel version of the serial data. But, it is not released yet. It is a serious upgrade over the current LogWorks 1.1. The new math channels allow for things like HP/Torque calculations from accelerarion data. Also, ideal AFR mapping ( AFR vs. Torque maps ), i.e. to know what AFR produces the most torque at each RPM/MAP cell of your fuel map.

There is also an AuxBox-SD coming; which can record the serial-2 data to an MMC/SD card along with its own data.

For the moment, the LC-1 only works as a AFR display ( with an XD-1 ) or as a wideband controller with analog output for connection to the AFR input channel of another logging system ( or an LM-1 ) or to simulate a narrowband sensor.

At least until the release of LogWorks 2.0, and later the AuxBox-SD.

For the industrious among you, I wil see if Klaus has released the spec on the serial-2 protocol.

The reason that the LC-1 was released before logworks 2.0 is that there is allot of OEM interest in it for standalone use, just making use of the AFR analog ouput. For datalogers, fuel controlers, etc. Also, some people run the outputs from the LC-1 to an LM-1/AuxBox combination for logging multiple AFR channels under the current system.

So, if you buy an LC-1 right now, you can only make use of the AFR/analog output channels on it. Good for datalogers, tuners, fuel controllers, and narrowband simulation. For the moment, the XD-1 is he only other device that can understand the new serial-2 data format. Until LogWorks 2.0 is released.

As you may have guessed, the demand for the LC-1 has been kinda overwhelming. People buying 8 at a time, etc. Bigger batches are on the way.

Myself (and probably most of the other posters here), already have a laptop and some type of scanning/tuning software that handles RPM and everything else that's going on. The LC-1 fills in the one gap that these packages have, they can't read air/fuel accurately with the stock sensors.

I got sick of waiting and bought an LM-1 today. Let the scanning begin!
