Thanks to the sponsors involved in Project Big Vortech
I am redoing my own car for 2003, and decided I wanted a be one of the fastest cars out there or blow up trying...
In no particular order I wanted to thank a number of sponsors who in particular endured my phone calls and helped me find various parts for the Formula...
FMS: Allan, thanks for the advice on peak hp with the various cam grinds we discussed, I look forward to receiving my blower cam, double roller timing chain and other items. I'm glad we got together on the camshaft, you have a lot of experience spinning the stock crank up to 7800 rpms and I needed that experience when looking at reliably spinning my combo up to 7200 or higher.
Diamond Pistons: Chris, thanks for taking the time to explain the pros and cons of various piston and rod combos, and for helping me look at other aspects of the rotating assembly. Diamond's customer service via email and on the is excellent and is really a standard for our site as far as I am concerned.
Cartek: Guys thanks for the advice and commentary regarding the FAST system. I have not bought one as of yet since there are other options but you guys have it really figured out with the piggyback version.
T.C.S: Derek lived up to his reputation of spending a lot of time on the phone and walking thru various options, he's going to supply us with a non-lockup 245mm converter for our new Turbo 400 transmission.
Madman: Brian's experience tuning the Ducote Firebird has been invaluable to me, because I have used Brian along with a few others to validate some of the choices I have made with regards to gearing, fuel system and shift points. It's nice to be discuss my project with someone who went 9.0@153mph two years ago in an LT1.
Speed Inc: Thanks to the gang for removing my drivetrain. Future thanks for machining the LS6 block, and setting up my 9:1 shortblock. I'll see you guys at the beginning of April when we throw the new engine and transmission into the Formula.
Billingsley Racing: Jay, thanks on a lot of points, on everything from setting up the chassis to controlling the pcm. Looks like I will be ordering your torque arm/ cross member setup next week since it solves so many of the issues of swapping to a turbo 400.
There are a lot of others who have been really helpful for the last couple of months who are not direct sponsors but they have been invaluable with coming up the overall setup of the car...
Bob Kurgan, NMRA Renegade veteran
Chris Sikora, World's fastest LT1/LT4
Terry @ Cam Motion
Chris Mays @ Comp Cams
Ricky Best @ Vortech
Matt Harlan, one of our moderators
Brady McNew, your pictures are the best on the web of all your mods...
... And the moderators and users who make up our community here on LS1Tech.
I hope that the car ends up being a testament to what we LS1Tech folks can do with a car, some parts, and an LS1 motor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
