Default New programming option: Torque Management Delete only - $74.99

Torque Management (a.k.a. TM) is a feature introduced in the late 90s by GM in which the PCM removes timing advance just before automatic transmission changes gears. If you've noticed that your vehicle pulls hard up to the shift point, then seems to go flat briefly when it shifts, you've noticed Torque Management.

GM designed this feature for two reasons: 1) Maximum engine power output was very close, or in some cases, exceeded the capacity of the transmission, and 2) To reduce wear and tear on the transmission and increase its service life.

It is very common for PCM tuners to remove TM as it dramatically improves the performance of the vehicle. TM on a 1999 Camaro LS1, for example, removes around 30% of the engine's torque output during shifts. On the trucks, this number can be upwards of 60%!

Whether removing TM is a good idea, or not is a highly debated discussion on the forums. Reducing it, or deleting it *will* cause more wear and tear on the drivetrain. If the driver has a really heavy foot, the wear will be worse then the driver who occasionally likes to drop the hammer.

The other discussion is how much should it be removed? Most PCM tuners delete it completely, but it is possible to simply scale it down the factory settings (e.g. we can "remove 20% TM").

Recognizing that reducing or eliminating TM, especially on the trucks, produces a very noticible improvement in performance, we've decided to start offering a new custom programming option (for 99+ Gen III vehicles) called "Torque Management Delete Only" programming, and we're introducing it at $74.99 (shipping not included). This option is for the budget minded enthusiast who wants to gain a performance improvement, but doesn't want to (or need to) invest $250 in full custom programming.

This option is only available for enthusiasts that are still running factory programming, and with it, we will only modify the TM settings. Your TM deleted programming will arrive on our exclusive handheld device (which plugs into the diagnostic connector under the dash), called the GT Tuner. It takes about 10 minutes to remove the TM from the PCM. When you're finished, pack up the GT Tuner and ship it back to us with the prepaid return shipping label.

(At the time of this writing, we have not updated our online ordering form for this option - if you want this option, please select "full custom programming" and in the "Additional Requests" section, please put "TM Delete Only" and indicate how much you want TM reduced, on a scale of 1 to 10 - 1 = "10%", 10 = "Remove completely". Alternatively, you may call in your order if you wish)
