The driver is pretty messed up as well with several broken bones and a severed finger.. - nothing life threatening as far as I know though.. Tony would be the one for updates..

Re: Sponsor and LS1 enthusiast killed last night in car accident
Mark was riding shotgun with his newphew Roman in Romans' LT1, they were going to drop their cousin off in LA (who was in the back seat), I guess Roman lost control of the car and hit a tree. The car hit the tree right on the passenger side door where Mark was, his heart stopped from the force of the impact, so it was quick. Roman broke his leg in 2 places and severed his finger in the accident, their cousin is ok though. They are doing an autopsy this Wednesday and I believe that services will be sometime this weekend. Anyone please feel free to email me or IM me at grinningdemonZ28@aol.com if you guys have any questions

There will only be one Mark "The Stuntman" Avila!
First off I want to give my deepest condolences to both Mark's Fiance Nicole and the Avila family.
I can't even begin to think of the pain and heartache they are going through.
Last night when we got the call I thought I was dreaming Jen played the message from Rich(Oxidizer) atleast 4 times before it started to hit home,Only after I spoke with Joe(Titan) did it really slap me in the face.
Seeing the strength and poise that Nicole has displayed in this post and last night at her parents is the only thing holding back the pain I am feeling.
I am not a very emotional man but I have tried to avoid reading the posts in this thread since 9:00am so I wouldn't completely loose it while sitting here at work.(I have used the bathroom 4 times today to wash my face and hide the tears)
Mark and I have been friends for the past 2 years,I still remember meeting him for the first time while he did my gear swap in the Camaro. He did his best to try and convince me to go with 4:10's instead of 3:73's and gave me crap when I consulted with Jen regarding the decision(I later wished I would have listened to him).I remember leaving the shop and conversing with Jen how we both liked him instantly and how genuine and down to earth he was.(We began hanging out regularly right after)
We have done many things together over the past year and a half and I have gotten to know him on many different levels. He comes across as a big loud badass with a qwik mouth yet on the inside he has a huge heart and would do anything for his family or friends.
I had the opportunity to spend the last couple weekends with Mark and will always cherrish the trip we took to "Parker" for the 4th of July and last weekend in Vegas.
It seems so Sureal because Mark,Roman and Nicole came over to my house for Pizza,Coronas and a movie Saturday night and didn't leave until almost 1:00am.
I truly can't belive he is gone!
I think my Dad summed it up best when I told him of Mark's passing.(speeking of how personable he was)
He said he dosen't remember ever meeting someone he liked so much in such a short period of time(They only met 4 times and spent one weekend together at the river yet my dad/family were crazy about him)
I have what I belive are the last pictures taken of Mark on my camera at home,I will post them later as a tribute.(1 week ago in vegas)
Mark,
R.I.P. stuntman you will be sorely missed and never forgotten!!!
