Suggestions on iPhone compatible HU
like the title says, I'm finally ready to upgrade my stock HU but would like one that lets me connect my iphone from the front and let me hear my songs. Looked through bestbuy and alot of them say ipod ready. Will those work. Thanks in advance.
BTW Im also getting these. Two for the front and two for the sail panels. Don't know which ones for the rear. Any opinion on these and any suggestions for the rear?

Most iPod ready systems will work well with the iPhone although not all of them will recharge the battery (because of the different connector used).
Those speakers will work fine in the doors but not in the sail panels because the Monsoon system has subs in the sail panels. Check out the Monsoon FAQ sticky at the top of the forum for more information.

I was just reading up on the new Kenwood products coming in a few weeks.
I know the new Kenwood 6140 according to this will work with Iphone
The DNX6140 ($1,250 suggested retail price) is a value-added combination of cutting edge technologies, intuitive user interface and great Kenwood quality. With the Garmin navigation and Parrot Bluetooth built right into the unit, the DNX6140 offers the latest in technologies at an attractive price. A compact front-panel **** is included to easily control volume, while a front-panel mini A/V input allows for convenient connection of a portable device, such as digital camera or camcorder. A 6.1” LCD touchscreen panel gives the user complete control over multiple audio and video sources, including DVD, MP3/WMA compact disc, iPod, iPhone, external mass storage devices, satellite radio and HD Radio (optional iPod, HD Radio or satellite radio accessories may be required). The user can customize the look of the DNX6140 in many ways; variable color illumination can match the interior lighting of many vehicles, while the background and startup screen graphics can be changed to show personal photos or the brand logo of the vehicle. For customers that wish to add Bluetooth at a later time, Kenwood offers the DNX5140 ($1,150 suggested retail price) which has all of the features of the DNX6140 but with the built-in Bluetooth module deleted.

If it makes it easier guys, can you just list what speaker system layout you went with so I can check them out. Thanks in advance.

Check your door sticker for option code (RPO) W54 or W55 to determine if you have the Monsoon system. If you have only the base audio system (something I've never seen in a Trans Am) then you have only four speakers (doors and sail panels) and the comments about sail panel subs don't apply.

thanks for the reply, would you happen to know what speakers would work fine on the sail panels. Also would the this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1197074854073 HU be powerful enough to power all speakers or would I have to get an amp, if so which one. (BTW I just noticed my car does not have an amp like the one pictured in the FAQs) Sorry for all the noob questions, last time I had an aftermarket HU was 7 years ago and I'm completely lost. Wish there was a way to buy a home theater in a box sort of speak for my car.

no, I do have all speakers but I just don't see that amp that's shown in some of the pics I've seen. I had a system install a loong time ago and Im guessing for some reason, the installers took them off.

You don't want a home theater in a box type setup, unless you don't want something much better than stock. Also, do some research on some car audio forums and expand your speaker/head unit search, definitely don't be set on getting your speakers from bestbuy, there is much more out there.
