Unhappy Help - Delco Monsoon Problem

Hi,

I have a problem with my Monsoon Headunit.
It is installed in my TransAm (1998, mod. 1999). Soemtimes, when I turn it on, the display and all buttons stay dark, but it is turned on and I can hear music from the radio. I even can change the station, but since I can't see anything, it's absolutely crap.
I have already removed it once to check the connectors and pins at the back, but couldn't see anything wrong.

Any ideas, what could cause the problem, or what I could do to troubleshoot it?

Thanks
SJ

I was talking to a place that repairs these radios and I was told the 2 common problems are the background light and the volume ****.

Sound like the light may be blown.

Thanks.
The only strange thing is that it works as normal in 50% of the cases (everything is lit as it should be).
