the spring off the regulator?

I never let mine unbind... not shure
I thout thear was a write up on hear that I used when i did mine.. it sed not to let it release & how it get it back on If it did IIRC
But i just spent 2 hrs tring to find it for you & had no luck
it may have ben on a difrent site.
maybe try a Search for "camaro window regulator spring replasment" ?
Or Hopefuly some one elce can chime in with the info... sorry

Finally got around to doing my driverside motor so now I shouldn't have anymore problems with these things at all, ever lol. Not sure about the regulator spring, I've read one guy installing it backwards. You would know forsure if you installed it backwards though.

Good Write up.I had to replace a motor a year ago when I bought my car and the kid had a new motor in the box or I would have tried this.Only prob. when I took off door skin the moron already attempted to replace motor but drilled 2 or 3 rivets that hold the whole window assembly in the door instead of the hidden rivets on the motor assembly I still need to get back in there and fix it.Sorry for the Rant.There a writeup for that? lol

i got it. if it does pop off its not hard to put back on. it latches underneath. put it half way on and press the curved portion under the clips and bam its on. lil patience goes a long way.

If the window goes down slowly but just makes a click one time when u press button to go up will original post fix it so it will go up again? It was working fine and just suddenly stopped going up.

I have a question that is probably really nooby, but does the window fall out when you take off the door panel? I just want to be super safe because this is the first thing I've ever done like this.

I'm going buy all the stuff I need to solder tomorrow and I'm gonna do the mod either tomorrow or Sunday. Hopefully this works, but what does this actually do? How does soldering a piece of wire to the resistor strip on the motor make it work like new?

The window won't fall when you remove the door Panel.

However, the window will fall when you remove the motor. So make sure you wedge something under the window to hold it in place before you remove the motor.

I still don't really understand what this mod actually does though. I know what the result is supposed to be, I just don't understand how soldering a piece of wire to the motor will fix it.

That replaces the thermal breaker which wears out.

Did this last night along with the Autotrix style DIY wiring for the passenger side. It works great, definite improvement. Before it wouldn't budge at all, now it goes up and down fine (not super fast, but it works reliably.) Thanks for the write up for those of us that are electrically retarded.

One note: When putting the brushes back in after soldering the 8 awg bridge in, I literally almost went insane due to frustration. I found it easier after messing with it for a no-**** hour to just take the commutator (I think it's called that; the middle axle piece) out of the housing and put the cap on there, then push it all back into the housing. If I would have done that first it would have saved me some serious time and major frustration.

Thanks again! Doing the driver's side window this afternoon/evening.

i my passenger motor wouldnt even move.
after i did this it now goes up fine but wont got down.

Try putting power and ground on the motor wires themselves from another source, like a drill battery or something. If it works one way reverse the polarity and see if it works the other way. If it does then the motor is good, which I suspect. My guess is that you have a dirty contact in the driver door switch, but without putting a meter on the wires or looking at it first hand that's only a guess.
