They have a $20 set at walmart 55w with glass lenses
that work great and they bolt right up to the hinge holes in the factory bracket

I have been running them for almost 3 years on my vert with no issues
they are clear except the bulb is blue and are a driving light
which means they light further down the road, nice white light



First remove the bracket that they came mounted to in the package


Loosen the legs to pull them out like this then retighten the screws


Bend the legs outword so they look like this


To mount to the GM bracket....
Put one screw in just enough to hold it then do the other side
tighten a little on each side, back and forth to keep the lense centered left to right

I would reccomend 4 washers,
I also used a little silicone to help keep the screws in place once adjusted

Installed a set on the 1995 just before i sold it (they needed adjusting as pic was right after intall)

cheep and easy fix, 1 hr start to finish, including a few beers
and are as bright as the headlights on the car

These lights make it very easy since the brackets fit so nicely
and for under $30 you can upgrade them. (Including the 6pack of suds)

The final picture was before i adjusted them they were sitting about an inch higher than in reality. The housings are metal and the lenses are glass,

Ive got about 40k miles on the ones in the Vert and they are over 4yrs old now...
i melted the factory ones with 55w bulbs (oops)
Light is cleaner and brighter than factory and have never had an issue
looked at piaa and hella but for the money i couldnt justify it.

 

I cant hardly even tell that the stock ones do anything. Did you notice a difference? By the way, welcome to the howto archive.

id say 50% increase in lighting, ill try to get some pics may be a week or two
i dont have the 95, put the bulbs in to replace busted ones but have the vert still and the lights are a few years old so ill take some pics of that

 

The stock frog lights on my 05 silverado were serious. They were every bit as good as lowbeams. If they could be that good then I'd consider switching them out.

u can notice that there smaller
i need to get glass housing since my HID's are pretty much burnin my stock plastic housings... =/...
hardly ever use my fogs anymore for that reason =/

 

while waiting on parts for my motor swap, i went ahead and takled this little upgrade. Overall took me 1.5 hours, brews included

first pic is new on the right, stock on left. about 2 feet from garage door. What you cant see is yellow and the bright white difference between the two.
second pic you can tell the difference
third is bright!
fourth shows the slight gap around the new housing. No big deal.
the last one shows my dog 30+ feet across the driveway.

overall, this will be a good improvement from the stockers. They are just as bright as the low beams...might just rock 'em around town when i get her back on the road. Thumbs up

 

great write up i took the advice and installed them since the guy i bought the car from melted out the sock ones. they are pretty bright and in all only took me about 40 min. (with the wife nagging lol)

 

what kind of bulbs do these use?

 

think tey would fit on a camaro too?

The Formula and Trans Am have similar size fog lights. You can mount these there as well, but a little differently.

However, I wouldn't use this particular model since the beam pattern isn't really a fog light. Looking at the comparison pics, The beam pattern on the left (stock) is a correct fog beam pattern, the beam pattern on the right (new fog light) is wrong for a fog light. A fog light beam pattern should be low and wide, not narrow and conical.

Take a look in the Fog Light section of the Lighting FAQ for some installs (including on Formulas) to show how to modify the stock bracket to hold an aftermarket fog light.

I've also done it so you'll see my install there as well. However, the new fog lights I have also produce the wrong beam pattern for a fog light so I rarely use them and would not recommend them. I'm leaving them there for now since they still look better than the fogged up stock ones.

There is one install in the FAQ that uses projectors, but he didn't show any pics of how he did it.

guess it depends on your goals just like anything else
my goal was inexpensive
and a driving pattern not a fog pattern
my feeling is if you truely want fogs get an amber lens

 

I use these as well; got em from O'Reilys - ditched the two 55 Watt bulbs and put in 100's - they are very nice - low and straight.
