Default 2008 headunit in a 2006?

t in a 2006? I was wondering if it is possible to add a stock '08 Silverado headunit to our '06 Silverado to allow for the aux jack but keep a factory look.

Im unfamiliar, but I would put the two side by side and check for any difference in mounting locations and wiring harnesses

Problem is I don't have both handy. I would have to make the drive to get the other unit. Trying not to make a wasted trip...

It won't work. The head unit is encoded for the vehicle in which it is initially installed and can't be reprogrammed. It's GM's antitheft system that replaced the TheftLock system used in f-bodies. I upgraded the factory HU in my wife's Envoy and got stuck with being unable to sell the original in-dash 6-disc changer because of the security programming.

Thank you. Not exactly the answer I really wanted, but at least its accurate and saves me time, money and frustration.

I don't understand how our vehicles get broken into/stolen daily, even with hi-tech aftermarket alarms. But Gm goes Fort Knox with the factory stereos? The irony is actually humerous, espcially since i was thinking the same vs getting aftermarket when the time comes.
