Car is a 2001 WS6 with the factory Monsoon system. Nothing aftermarket. Sometimes, the music volume goes up and down randomly on it's own, and it's very annoying. This happens regardless of whether I am playing off a CD or the radio. Other days I'll turn it on and it will play fine all day. It seems to have this problem roughly half the time. What is causing this, and what do I need to fix/replace to remedy the issue?

Something similar happened to me when I had my LT1 trans am, I believe it was the factory amp giving up.

mine did this, my volume button became very touch, so much that when i was driving the car, it would do the same thing. i swapped out my head unit

I had this problem and it was my steering controls for the stereo. They were worn out and would randomly turn the volume up all the way while driving. It was a great distraction.
Replaced the controls and no more problem.
