Please read the Monsoon FAQ sticky first then perhaps contact Ian at Kee Audio about his f-body replacement speakers. The door speakers are components not coaxials so you will get the best sound using component replacements.

i would say polk 6500dxi's if u want to keep it components, infinitys tend to be be more "bright" which makes them become crackely at higher volumes where as polks have better full range and sound better at higher volume.

I got alpine type s, but whatever you do get, run new wire from speakers to headunit. If you have factory amp.

If you're on a tight budget, I would just find stock speakers in the classifieds on here. I sold my a few years ago for next to nothing.

If you want a good aftermarket speaker setup, then WhiteBird is right, you should contact Ian at Kee Audio. I have his f-body speaker package in my car, sounds great, and was easy to install.

Uhh, why? Why would you want to give up amplification and just use head unit power? If you get the right speakers for each position (components for doors, subs for sail panels), the Monsoon amp can be quite effective.

what if someone cut out the monsoon amp when they sold the car, so all you have is

the black wire that ran to the amp and a tall glass of sadness?
(my situation)

Well, wiring around a missing amp is different than deliberately eliminating a perfectly good one.

If the wiring isn't damaged, you could probably get a Monsoon amp cheap in the for sale section here and just plug it in. Remember Camaro and Firebird amps are different so make sure you get the right model.

Assuming you don't have a Monsoon system, they're fit just fine and sound pretty good. Shortly before I parked my Z-28 for the winter, I put a pair of those in my doors, and a pair of the similar, but "shallow mounts" in my sail panels.

No, they won't give you earth shattering bass, as they're only a 6.5-6.75" speaker, but the mids are solid and the highs clear and bright. That works just fine for me, as I have a "performance car", not a "rolling concert hall"....

One note, however. I have an aftermarket head unit (Pioneer), which has more power than an OE unit.

Had to cut the tweeter wire from the inputs to make the speaker a "component" style setup. Soldered speaker wire to leads and insulated them.

in the door

both speakers have had it
