Default Adding Factory 12 disc changer - TA

How difficult is it to add a factory CD changer to a TA with the Moonsoon system?

Is the factory wiring already run to the back of the car whether or not you have the changer??

The wiring is there but it depends on the year and type of head unit whether you can add the changer. Prior to late-1999 (let's say 2000), only the cassette head unit was capable of controlling the changer. 2000 and newer models could have a changer with either cassette or CD head units.

Please see the Monsoon FAQ sticky for more information.

The car is a 2001 with a CD head unit.

What's a fair price to pay for the CD changer say off E Bay or Craigslist?

Any idea where I can get the brackets to install it?

Are there existing mounting hole in every or will I need to drill new holes for the brackets?

Best bet is to put up an add in wtb section. I believe the brackets were on the changer when I picked it up and simply drilled holes. I paid about 100 shipped a couple years ago.

My car is a 2000 and it came with the Monsoon CD deck. I ended up buying a used Delco CD changer off here years ago. It was simply plug and play, already had the cd changer wire hooked up in the trunk. I wouldn't worry about the mounting brackets/drilling holes. I used some industrial strength velcro and it held up just fine for years.
