Default Gauge cluster not working

The engine is back in and started up powerful on the first try! I purchased a gauge cluster off of eBay a while back Bc the gas gauge didn't work on my original cluster. None of the gauges worked on this new cluster, my guy thinks it's Bc my car is a 98 and the cluster I have isn't a 98 cluster. Any other opinions?

Likely the year mismatch. 98 especially had different wiring. What year did you get your cluster out of?

I've seen anything from saying match year exact, to 98 is special and 99-02 are the same. But either way, with a 98 you're stuck getting a 98 cluster.

You sure it was a cluster issue causing the gauge to not work and not something else like the fuel level sender?

I put the 98 cluster back in everything is working again. As far is the fuel gauge we have replaced my fuel pump 2-3 times and the fuel gauge never worked.

Where is the sending unit located, is it apart of the fuel pump? I had a string of bad AC Delco fuel pumps and we replaced them 2-3 times. So I am unsure if its the guage or what?
