Alarm issue...turns into race harness?
Buddy of mine picked up a 99 TA a few days ago. Car had a system in it we began pulling out, which resulted in the interior coming out. The car is going to be a very....very aggressive "street" car. No AC/Heat, Stereo, etc.
Anyway, while removing the system, we removed all the cables running from the hatch down the kick panels to the front. As well as the head unit(factory) and the air bag sensor under the center console.
Reconnected the battery, alarm is going off. Never got an original key fob with the car. Put the key in to turn forward to shut the alarm off....nothing. Car will not start either obviously.
Now we are considering removing the entire in car harness and either stripping it down to just what we want, or possibly purchasing a new harness(painless, raceharness, etc).
I would say we would just remove the BCM and disable the security system through the PCM. Any input?

You would have to do an additional wiring modification because without the BCM, the starter won't run. The VATS system in the BCM prevents the vehicle from starting in two ways... it disables the fuel enable signal to the PCM, effectively shutting off the fuel supply to the engine, and it disables the starter relay preventing the engine from turning over. You cannot remove VATS by programming alone. You can program the PCM to ignore the lack of a fuel enable signal but you have to modify wiring to get the starter relay working. The same is true if you remove the BCM. The modification is quite simple - just run the yellow/black wire at the starter relay to a good chassis ground.
Removing the BCM will kill the following circuits in addition to VATS and the alarm system - interior lights, retained accessory power, power windows, power locks and hatch release.

Today we went back to work. There was an aftermarket alarm installed....horribly.
The alarm was cut into the BCM, accessory wire(column), radio and speakers. Literally...wires cut and twisted together and taped. Today after removing all of that fully, we began reconnecting the original wiring.
Went to connect the battery...lights flipping, horn on a steady honk.
