Lots of info on Monsoon, what about the older 10 speaker system?
I have a 94 TransAm with a 10 speaker system that isn't Monsoon and the speakers are starting to show their age. I replaced the head unit and added a sub years ago. Now the front speakers are distorting. I tried adding some 300hz bass blockers but the distortion is still there so I think it's time to replace.
I was wondering if anyone has info on the stock amp for this setup, mainly the crossover frequencies if nothing else. Ideally, does anyone have a link to detailed info on the whole system?

Yes, that's correct. The 10-speaker system had a small 4-channel amp mounted below the right sail panel sub next to the rear seat. It powered the two dual voice coil subs in the sail panels and left the rest of the speakers to be powered by the head unit.
The concept is actually quite similar to the later Monsoon system which went to an 8-channel amp powering all speakers in a Camaro and all speakers except the tweeters in a Firebird (because of the DVC subs using more channels than the SVC subs in Camaro). Basically, the Monsoon system kept the amplified subs and added amplification to the other speakers.
