satelite radio, quick install questions
so, i just got and installed my sirius satelite radio, 2 quick questions.
1) i can not seem to get the rca cables to use as an auxilary, the only way i can hear the music is when i use the fm modulator. my pioneer headunit is satelite ready and i have the rca cables plugged in the back, but i get no sound. anyone know how to fix this?
2) how did everyone mount there unit? the plug and play display unit that i got has a POS sticky pad on the bottom that doesnt stick to crap, how did everyone get theres to stay???
thanks guys

When Pioneer says that their head unit is satellite ready it means that you can add a Pioneer satellite tuner and the head unit will control it. Adding one of those plug-and-play satellite radios would be considered an auxiliary source. Depending on which model you have, you may need an IP-BUS-AUX auxiliary adapter from Pioneer to provide the RCA connections for auxiliary input. Check your Pioneer owners manual. In any case, you need to switch the source to AUX, not to satellite, to hear the satellite radio you have.

WhiteBird is right.
The "Satellite-Ready" part of the Pioneer headunit, requires a Pioneer satellite receiver and connects through the IP-BUS (1/2 inch square blue connector on the back of the headunit) for sound and control.
Here is a link where I installed a Pioneer XM satellite receiver in my car through the stock monsoon system. I know that is not what you are doing, but there are pictures there as to what it looks like. Its a 2-yr old model, but I think the new version looks similar (if they still make it).

If your Pioneer headunit does not have RCA AUX-IN, you can convert the IP-Bus to RCA AUX-IN. Here are two links to two products that can do that. It seems that one is to allow the use of an external changer, and the other is not.

You'll have to figure out which you need.
Pioneer also makes an adapter. If you look up your headunit on Pioneer's site, it should tell you if a genuine Pioneer AUX adapter is available. I dont know how much it costs or where you can get one.
Here is their site:

If you cant find the headunit on there, let me know. Just give me the model number and I'll see what I can find out.
There is a downside to all this:
Pioneer's satellite receiver is XM only.
(Not to mis-lead anyone, I like XM and that is what I have)
On a side note...
Since the satellite receiver connects through the IP-BUS which Pioneer has been using for years, I wonder if an older non-"Satellite-Ready" headunit will still work with a satellite receiver or if thee newer ones have a newer bios that allows it to control the satellite receiver.
BTW, what Sirrius receiver did you get?

You need to buy the IP Bus adapter for that model in order to plug in an auxiliary input device.
