Car cuts off and back on

Car cuts off and back on Strange problem here. One morning the SS would not crank at all. Dead battery. This was very sudden; I did not notice battery getting weaker, it just died. I replaced it with a red Optima. Now, every now and then while I am driving, the car will cut off and cut back on. All of the dash lights flash like as if I had just started the car.
Any ideas? Alternator? Cable connectors look fine, but maybe corroded cables?

Update: I pull into a parking lot this morning, cut the car off and everything resets (radio clock/settings). The car will still crank fine.
