Default New kicker woofer for sail panel!! #CVT65

I came across the Kicker CVT65 while looking for 6 1/2" woofer for our sail panel's. Its a single 2 ohm woofer so works great with the factory monsoon and is a shallow mount woofer. Has 150 watts rms and 300 watts peak. So does anyone already have this in their car?

Good find. Sites I look at list it as a new product. Should drop right in without a spacer as well.

Very nice find. I've had Kicker before they have pretty good thump on 'em.

So how do you wire this since the stockers are a dual 4 ohm and there are 4 wires in there?

On the Trans Am you can't unless it's the 4ohm version which is available. The Trans Am's wires are 4ohms each pair and then bridged to 2ohms by use of the dual voice coils on the speaker. If you hook up a 2ohm speaker to the 4ohm amp it could do damage to the amp. So you'd have to use the 4ohm version. If you use a 4ohm version of the speaker you can use 1 pair of the 2 and be fine.
The 2ohm version is for the Camaro.

Kickers? Hmmmmmmm

How about the Tang Band 6.5" subs? I have a pair of those I may try and they require less watts to get them moving. I bet those listed would sound blah on low power.

The Tang Bands are nice subs and rated at 50w rms and 100w Peak but they have a sensitivity rating of 83dB and are 4ohm. The Kickers may actually do better on the stock Monsoon amp even though they have a higher advertised power rating. I personally think that power rating may be a bit optimistic knowing a bit about the Comp VT line.

I also have a set of CDT M-6's that may be worth a try. I don't know what works best in these cars but I hope someone tries them all and figures it out for me soon

Stock Monsoon is barely enough to push an M-6 but it's worth a try. M-6's really shine with aftermarket power to them.

fleabay has the 4 ohm versions for 129 a pair and the 2 ohm versions for 139 a pair.

Now running the 2 ohm single VC set in a trans am IS NOT going to hurt the amp. As long as your running it in the OEM configuration (one speaker to each channel) and not trying to bridge the amp the 2 ohm impedeance is only going to pull a little more power out of the stock amp. The only question that may need answered is, how long will the amp last. I would not be scared to run either version myself.
