Default Question on how to wire up new sub

I just got an Alpine SWR-1042D 10" sub that i'm putting in my car. My amp is an old Boss rage 700W 2 channel amp. The subwoofer says i need to wire it for either 2 or 4 olhm's depending on the amp, but i can't seem to find anything on the amp that says what it is. Any idea on how i should wire it up? Thanks for any help.

I have the same subs. Wire them to 2 ohms. It also explains everything in the booklet that came with the alpine's. Best of luck!

Being that you are using a BOSS amp I would NOT run it at 2 ohms. Cheaper amps are not usually capable of running at any lower than 4 ohms. You are using ONE sub right? That would leave you with two options: running your amp bridged at 8 ohms OR running both channels on the amp, each one at 4 ohms. Either way your sub will get about the same amount of power due to the impedance.

If you run this amp at 2 ohm it will most likely overheat easily and shut itself off or it will just fry when it overheats(most likely)
