You can make your own brackets or buy some. I made my own out of the side of an old steel computer case. I just bent/trimmed/drilled as necessary to make the appropriate "L" brackets to hold the headunit in place. To make it fit, you'll have to trim the "grid" brace about 1/8" at the the upper part of the opening (when you remove the stock headunit, look up, you'll see what I'm talking about). A coarse-grit sanding drum on a rotary tool works well for this. Have someone with a vacuum hold the hose near the work-in-progress to catch debris. (And wear safety goggles ) Also, you'll have to remove the vertical brace/bracket at the back of the headunit tray.

WhiteBird00 sent me some good pictures recently over PM. I don't know if he wants me sharing the links though. I can host them on my domain if he wants.

After the headunit is wired up and mounted, you'll have to modify the stock radio bezel or make a new one because it will no longer fit.

BTW, I recently installed a Pioneer AVIC-D3 in my 2000 Formula. [Thanks WhiteBird00]
I still need to make a new radio bezel though.

I don't mind sharing the photos...

This shows how you can use the brackets out of a Metra 95-3302 double DIN mounting kit. The left circle is where the brackets line up with the OEM screw hole. The right circle is where I removed the upper tab off the bracket so it wouldn't interfere with the bezel hole. The two lower tabs of the bracket line up with the retaining pins of the bezel. Making your own brackets would be more secure but the factory tray provides most of the support for the head unit anyway (and my fabrication skills aren't anything to write home about).

The marked area is where I had to remove some plastic from the reinforcement ribs to keep the head unit from scraping when inserted. I had to remove a little bit of the foam padding to be able to see the ribs. You can't see this area once the bezel is in place.

This is a lousy picture of some of the reinforcing ribs. As you can see, it's not necessary to remove them - just thin them out by about 1/8". You can almost see the untouched rib on the far left (out of focus) as a reference for how much plastic to remove.

This is the finished result using a custom bezel from C5-KIDD. He has a group purchase for bezels going on in another thread.

I have since replaced the AVIC-D3 with a Kenwood DNX5120. The Kenwood is much better with Sirius (Pioneer favors XM) and I wanted compatibility with my existing Garmin equipment and software. The Pioneer has nicer screens (the Kenwood looks utilitarian, like something you'd see in a factory system) and the D3 has more audio adjustments making it easier to get the sound you want. But I didn't have to re-enter the more than 200 locations I had in my Garmin software - I just put them on a CD and loaded them into the DNX5120's GPS memory.

Whitebird, that was awesome..How did you get the bird on the pioneer? Is that a pic off the back of the car? How about theft? Is anyone worried about that? Any theft prevention methods? or just alarm? And is the factory alarm good enough?
