Default 96 LT1 vs my 97Cobra

Finally got a kill against a 96 Camaro SS with single exhaust. I've worked with the guy about 10+ years @ UPS. Surprised he even raced given the penalties for Feeder Drivers if they get tickets.

His car is 100% bone stock, even the filter is an original replacement.

Race: 20MpH roll with me in 1st not and not sure what gear he's in. I tell him to take the hit. He punches it and gets about a 3/4 jump on me and through the rest of 1st pulls a solid car. I gain back with the shift into 2nd. Wind out 2nd and I'm even or a little ahead. Shifting into 3rd I start to pull and by the top of 3rd I have a solid 1.5 to 2 car lead on him. We shut down around 120-125mph.

Glad I finally got a kill against an F-body since getting my car back together. Surprised I didn't win by more but oh well.

I told him to get a full exhaust for his car and do something about the intake side as well and we'll do it again. I wouldn't mind owning his car because he has really taken care of that car.

Actually it does. The motor that came out of the car ran a lot better than the one I have now. Original motor had 82k the one in their now has 103K. The car needs to be tuned and the O2's replaced. The check engine light has been on since the swap and it through codes for the O2's. Seems to pull fine up top but it seems uncommonly sluggish 1st-3rd. The LT1 has 56k original miles on it. I'm really trying hard not to sink any more money into this car because I really want to sell it and get an R1. Even though I love my 01 GXSR-750 it does not compare to an 03+ Liter bike.
