Challenged by a CBR 600
I just wanted to put this in here to let you know how stupid people can be, this guy on the 600 pulls up at a light beside me, and starts revving, I'm usually game for anything, but do a double take, and see that he has got his son on the back of the bike, not older than 8 I don't think, theres no way in hell Id race that ******* with his son on the back, WTF is this guy thinking, It sad to think that people like him can even get laid and have a kid

Yeah that is just plain dumb. I bet neither one had a helmet or a clue. Just for the record, would you have won if you had raced on the track?

Maybe he's a Camaro fan and he just wanted you to throw a rev for his little boy. I agree though. You did the right thing by not racing him. I sure hope he wouldn't have raced you with a kid on back. That's pure stupidity.

If it was a CBR 600RR it is the fastest 600 made, at least till the 04 GSXR 600 comes out which is supposed to have the best power to weight of any 600. With a great rider the bike will run low 11s. Most likely would be a mid to high 11 sec bike at around 120-125mph.

Bikes are alot quicker than people think, even a 600. As long as he is a good rider. Anyone that has riden a newer 600 knows how fast they are. Good call not to race him though. Some people are so STUPID! He shouldn't be racing with his son on the back.

Re: Challenged by a CBR 600
I put up a pretty good fight with one on a roll,
after 3rd the bike stop pulling on me (about 2cars out in front)and we started to gain some space back (had to slow, road turned to crap)
That was in my buddies 01 Z28 1sc (light)
And that was a 03 CBR600. I've seen most 600s run in the 12s at the local track. Not saying they all do (but these did, rider?)

Re: Challenged by a CBR 600
I just got a test ride on my bro-in-laws new Suzuki Hayabusa . . . talk about a crotch rocket! 165 hp, top speed 195 mph, does the quarter in 9.8, zero to 60 in like 2.1! This is the worlds fastest production motorcycle. I was going 60 mph with the throttle barely cracked . . . then I whacked it about half way open and was doing 90 mph in two seconds! The throttle was so touchy I had to coast through every U-turn to keep from laying the bike down.
Last weekend a modified Heyabusa turned a 230+ mph time out at the Salt flats.

Re: Challenged by a CBR 600
Back in 93 I had a CBR 600 f2 and I ran 11.40s @ 118 and the new bikes are way faster than that thing was. From a stop a bike is tuff to beat on the street.
However I do have some good videos of my buddys Grand national killing a modified busa.3 times from a stop and 3 times from a roll the big bad Buick took him to school.

Re: Challenged by a CBR 600
nice, i would love to have a GN and from what i heard from the story, the guy sounds like a rider if he was by himself, he would not be wearing a helmet, but have the helmet on the back of the bike. Man there is some idiots on the road!!
