Default Evo Death

Earlier today I pulled up next to a softly tuned but loud Evo. I revved and he didn't, and then when we got going he wanted to go from about a 40 mile per hour roll and, as I'm an A4, that happens to be a dead spot. We took off and he rapidly pulled about a car on me before I stopped it and started gaining on him around 80 MPH. I caught back up to him and he hit the brakes before I could pass, this was around 110 MPH on a rather deserted rural road. All in all, it was a good run. I was told that they can be brake-boosted to a degree and maybe he did something like that to give himself that kind of a jump on me, but it was like the damn thing ran out of gear. I could hear his exhaust even over mine with the cutout open and so I knew he didn't just let off or anything, his pull really petered out around 70-80 MPH. Didn't know what had happened at the time and I was bewilderedly impressed, not knowing what to think about that pull-reversal. Maybe he ran out of nitrous pressure or something. Strange things happen on the street.

Did he tell you he was spraying? I doubt he ran out of nitrous pressure.

Sounds to me like you had the hp advantage and it showed at the higher speeds.

Don't ever go from a 40 roll in a a4. Slow to a 30 next time at least.

Most AWD cars do lose their kick once they hit higher speeds. They have the advantage at launch and but have no top end.

I raced my friend Sti from 40, while i honked he spooled up his turbo and pulled about 3 cars on me instantly. Maybe 40 is a good spot for those turbo cars to brake boost. Next time go from 60 and throw it in second. Thats what i did with the sti and i pulled away hard.

incorrect. Smaller turbod cars (like myslef, lol) have little top end. Its the size of the turbo that determins top end (smaller turbo=no top end, but low end kick is good larger turbo=more top end, less low end tq). AWD only affects drivetrain loss.

And drivetrain loss increases at speeds increase. Hence the higher parasitic losses of an AWD car at higher speeds.

Due to gearing, load, and many other factors, Evo's will make more power in 4th than in 3rd.

Yah, i have raced multiple high horsepower evos. They love the brake boost! I highly doubt he was spraying.
