Default SLK55 AMG vs Me tonight...

So I was on my way home, and this badboy blew past me on the freeway.... I decided to catch up, and we got off the freeway. From a low roll, he put about a car on me and held.... Not bad for a $50,000 car
Wish I coulda got some video! Car sounded modded, it was almost as loud as mine, so I know he had exhaust. Fun runs though, cool guy!

Ha ha not too bad then.... Probably a tad bit slower where I'm at though.... 5800 above sealevel kills us N/A cars.

Unless your car has some decent mods I'd say he wasn't in it all the way. Car traps in the 111mph range. You raced from a low roll to ?what speed?

They are generally in the mid/upper 12s at 113-115.

We ran em from like a 10-20 roll... I couldn't catch him on the freeway though! That thing has craaazy top end. Yeah, we shut down around 80 when we were actually runnin em.
My mods aren't very much right now... Lid, PP TB, Ram Air, Chopped exhaust... Headers and True Duals going on next week after clutch install...

LT's and a tune he'd be pretty close to 111 mph... but they trap 115-ish

I can't open the link (bimmerforums down right now) but 115mph, IMO, is way high for a SLK55. Low teens I would say, or closer to an LS2 C6.

Eh, well like I said, that thing had some gnarly top end, but I think it was a little lackluster in low end for a 50 grand car...

SL55 and SLK55 are two entirely different cars.

The SL is a 4000+lb hulk with an SC V8 that MIGHT trap 114mph. 5spd auto.

The SLK55 is a 3300-ish lb 7spd auto NA V8 car.

Yes, that is known.

While the original poster DID call it an SLK, the pic was of an SL. And there at least seems to ONE that is above 114 stock

There is a pic? I'm very suspicious of that one dragtime entry as well. Moot point I guess.

Great run, OP. My two thoughts are:

1) Those AMGs run REALLY well for their weight/power rating, so don't underestimate them even if it seems like you should beat them.

2) The stock AMGs I've heard sounded NASTY when WOT, so it's possible it was stock. NA V8 sound....can't beat it.

That said, according to http://www.leftlanenews.com/mercedes...specifications, they weigh 3,472 pounds and are rated 355/376 at the motor, so based on that and knowing how the AMGs run, I'd guess they trap maybe 110 +/- depending on the driver.

my buddys roomate has a 05 SL55 AMG. Thing dynos over 450! Its a BEAST off the line. It has a wide body kit and some other things on it. No way I would go from a dig against it. I know its S/C thpugh. Didnt realize it was such a huge power difference between the slk and sl models! I hate to say it, but gotta give some props to those German cars, but I'll keep my vette
