The s4 with the v8 is the way to go! Those things are beasts and when you add the turbo to the v8 sounds like a F250 diesel. If I could find one for a descent price i would scoop it up quick.

Hi, hope you guys don't mind me bringing up an old thread...
But I got an 2000 stage3 S4 and making close to 400 AWHP, it is basically the same setup as the european RS4, only tuned a little harder They come in sedan or wagon and have 2.7l twin turbo.
Here is some educational videos so everybody know what they are getting into when racing the 4 rings. Make sure you look closely at around 3.08 min!!!
Enjoy:

The older twin turbo S4's can be had for probably somewhere around 15-20k, the newer 4.2l V8's are probably still around 25-30 if not a bit more. With the newer S4 coming out now that is a going back to 6 cylinders with a a blower that price of the V8's should drop.

Yeah some of them audi's are very quick. I tangled up with a stage 3 s4 here in KC. We went from a 60 roll. He jumped out a quick car ahead, and held it to around 120 when I started creeping up on him, by 150 I had a couple of cars on him, and that is with the mods in my sig. He definetely suprised the $hit out of me..

A guy at my squadron had a S4, this was back in 04. From a dig he would yank two cars on me instantly, from a roll I could hold about a car in front of him. This was with just a CAI and BBK shorties on my car, I think he just had a more aggressive tune. I was impressed.

My S4 mods came up to about 5k... it have been a blast all the way and I have learned a lot, started with just a chip and though that would be enough... it was NOT!!!
So I pulled the engine and went with bigger turbos, cooling and fueling.
here is another instirational video that sums the stage definitions up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib79bRlc9nM
Now the S4 is up for grabs and I'm on this forum to read up on the LSX, the plan is to do an LS conversion into a BMW Z3 Coupe (or something similar)

Yes, they are called K04s, I believe they're just the ones taken off the B5 RS4 in Europe. The RS4 wasn't offered over here until they started mass producing those 4.2 DOHC V8s...
I like Audis as DDs, but I'm not a big fan of AWD.
Plus, Audi has a longitudinal AWD setup with V8s and V10s now so it tends to have ALOT of weight up front.

I agree, open the hood, even on the RS6 Speed GT cars, and it's way up front!
That's not gonna happen, the '10 Mustang is getting excellent reviews and the Coyote motor will be even better. However, HUGE difference between the two cars though. Basically a couple of light-years in refinement, interior design, controls, options, etc. Good as the Mustang is, the Audi is world-class.
