G8 GT vs 2003 Mustang GT
My car: stock 2009 G8 GT, ran 13.5 @ 102.9 mph. I had three passengers plus myself.
His car: 2003 Mustang GT 5-speed, intake, exhaust, 4.10 gears. He didn't have any passengers.
RACE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ckqypGJ3P0
Sorry about the quality, but it was a random chance meeting and all we had was a cell phone cam.
I didn't look at the speedo, but I'd guess we started at about 50-60 mph. I was expecting a loss due to having 4 people in the car, but I ended up pulling away from him.
Afterwards he gave a very enthusiastic thumbs up and then we pulled into a parking lot and chatted it up. Very nice kid. He told us his mods and gave props to my car. He said that he had always heard that the G8's were fast, lol.
Over all I was very happy! Good race, I won, and the other guy was real cool!

I let up due to traffic ahead (you can see us pass one car at the end of the video).
When we were talking after I told him that I was planning some mods this year and he was like, "well you already have these cars covered stock" referring to his GT, lol.

I will say with him having 4.10s and no passengers, and you still getting a jump on him, he might have started in the wrong gear. But you continued to slowly pull, so your car obviously has more top end. Good run

I never mentioned it because I still won decently, but the way I normally race with this car is to put it in manual mode and put it in the gear I want. Then, as soon as I hit the gas, I put it over into normal shift mode and let it shift itself. For this race I put it in the gear I wanted (2nd in this case), but then instead of clicking it into drive I bumped it up a gear manually into 3rd before it was supposed to shift. It obviously didn't make a huge difference, but I could feel the car fall out of its powerband on the accidental upshift. I had thought that the race was going to be all over for me right there, but apparently not
The kid never mentioned anything about being in the wrong gear, but he might have been. He didn't have any excuses and just gave me props on a good race and a fast car. I definitely wasn't expecting a win due to the extra peope.
I'll be interested to see what happens when I race a similar car with my LT1. We've been trying to set it up for a while, but the timing hasn't worked out yet. The car I'll be racing is modded very similar and has run 14.0 @ 100 mph so it should be a great race!

if you got 4.10's on your mach 1 it shouldnt be much of a race mach 1 stock is a tad faster and traps alittle faster than a G8 GT so the 4.10 gears would just push it over. if you wasnt pulling a normal stang GT something would be wrong.
then again i was pulling away easily from 03 stangs Easily when i still had my GP GXP. hell they didnt even know what kind of car i was driving for a while.

I definitely like the g8's and they are damn sure quick cars. I raced one a couple weeks ago, and was impressed. It was bone stock and I have a couple bolt-ons, and from my dead spot (40mph) it jumped on me, but I caught him and passed him and kept on pullin, but still that thing is no joke. My wife likes fast cars and wants something 4-door, so I'm trying to talk her into that, or a cobalt ss/tc.
