I sure wouldn't mod a jetta myself, but I was impressed by this one.

Besides, don't you have to love trees to own one? I like trees because they make such good furniture.

I wouldn't buy a tree to make furniture, I'd build it out of something significant
But brings up a good point
Why cut down a tree, mill it, dry it out, treat it and shape it to a finished product, when you can buy the product already done or prefab anyway?
Imports in the nutshell...........Buy the car and spend stupid amounts of money trying to get it to perform like a stock Muscle Car.
No offense, Imports serve a purpose= Commuter

You are right. Imports arent worth the time and money to put money into on mods for drag racing. However, it can be done cheap. The only reason I'm probably gone mod my jetta at all is that it is cheap(what Im gonna do anyway), the car is very light (a whole 50lbs heavier than the "featherweight Honda CRX"), and it is what I have. Though, Im not gonna try to make it like a muscle car. I want to get into autocross racing. Plus, it makes for a decent project car, as it is a good learning experience. I want experience before I start toying around with a real car (T/A in my case). That is the reason why I still have my car. Im not trying to sound anti american here, in fact, I love american muscle. But, until I have a better job where I can make some money, I have my jetta. I felt like I had to stand up for my little economy car. So I did. If I deserve it, im ready to get flamed. on

I don't think milla is deserving of a flame here personally, just my opinion. Jetta's aren't too bad little cars for what they are. I've seen some turboed Jettas lay down decent numbers. Not my cup of tea though. Nice kill on the turbo Jetta BTW.

MillaTk
I mean no offense directly to you, But I get tired of reading about Imports and their growing potential.
Of course they are coming up(in the MOD world), But this is a LS1tech Forum
Personally I have a hard time talking to my friends about their Imports..............the noise, the hype or whatever it is I don't know.My Stang never had one come close to it on the street, But they ran their mouths (Import crowd) like I was going down
I'm just a hardcore American Muscle Car freak

wow, now that is dumb. When I saw what they did to that jetta, I was horrified. AmMscl no offense taken. I understand what you are talking about. I try not to talk much about my car, cuz I know it is, for the most part, a POS. I know my place and I know it is not a drag racer. Though, there are always people trying to make their imports into drag cars anyway. Now that, I dont understand.

the i.8 engine comes in the golfs/gtis as well..

they have a stroker kit for it that bumps it to like 2.4 i believe..it's a pretty decent for a turbo 4.

I'm a car freak first and foremost..i don't have friends that like imports per se but...

i was at MIR 3 days ago (import domestic shootout) and saw a civic do a 9.7X, (a whole lot in the low 10s) it was not a turbo. i see 55 riced civics every day, but there are those that back it up.

The impors have won this shootout like 4 years in a row..and the fastest imports there were 4 cyl turbo hondas suprisingly.

there were some blown/turbo 5.0s dipping in to mid-high 8second passes, if not for them it would have been imports all the way..kinda sad

Here is my point (EXCAL)
How many were daily drivers?
In 2000 I went to the Battle of the Imports (as a favor to a friend) Not one of the fast cars (11s or better) were even close to being a street car. I drove my Stang to the track drop air pressure and blast 10.7s all day!(street car)
I have love for them(imports) , hell I wanted a Golf (turbo)for my wife.
I just couldn't bring myself to buy it, Can someone help Me?
MillaTK
At least you have a car and your keeping your self busy, Now hurry up and buy a LS1

hehe... well, The Golf only comes with the 2.0 and the tdi engines while the GTI comes with only the 1.8t and vr6 (newest models anyway). AmMSCL the mustang LX with the blown 347 with 850Hp only does 10.7's??? Or was it another mustang, or am I just missing something?

If someone ever wanted to lend(give) me $10,000 or so, I would rush out and get an LS1 right now.
