raced a firehawk
cruisin around red bank last nite n saw a black firehawk n figured i'd give it a go. Catch a light on 35 n throw a rev n he throws one back he had headers n exhaust from what i heard n saw. ne way light turns green i get no traction n spin he takes off and puts 2 cars then 3 finally hook and begin to catch up but he shut down. then we went from a roll he jumped then i hammered it n pulled him by a car or two he must have missed a shift or something.
cliff notes
got beat by a sweat *** black ls1 firehawk
he must have missed a shift because i pulled him when we went from a roll
headers sounded awesome can't wait to get mine
end result friendly competition b tween 2 f-bodys
sound of his headers and him pulling
i would have loved to win but no shame in losing to a fellow f-body

If you could physically see his y-pipe hanging from the position next to him, they must really be hanging low, in which case just means some shotty work. They do make upgraded y-pipes that fit the stock exhaust manifolds, so it might not have had headers. Plus, headers with cats are only slightly louder then stock .... the cat-back and muffler is really what makes the difference. I have headers, y-pipe with cats, and have gone through 3 different cat-back systems. I currently have the magnaflow cat-back ... and it is not as loud as my friends car who just has the 'loud mouth' exhaust and his cats removed (taking the cats off made a HUGE difference in the sound level).
Back when I put my headers on, I still had stock cat-back, and I could barely hear a difference.
Not trying to make you look like an ***, just stating that you're not really sure what it had. As you said about assuming …

what phantom has stated is correct. by sound period, it is nearly impossible to tell, and to see the crap hanging from under the car is a crappy job. good runs though. time for more mods!
