First night with Ls1
please, just leave it in drive. drive is faster than you shifting. if you want to shift, you should have bought a manual. have fun tearing up your tranny. get some gears and a good sized stall and you wont have to worry about shifting.

You guys are missing the point, i was out ******* around having a little fun with my new car. I am in no way a street racer, and the shifting thing was just for ***** and gigs, testing the water. I didn't know it automatically downshifts.
If i would have known it would cause such a backlash, i would have never said **** and been on my way. Just figured i was among friends here
you are among friends here, were just teaching you so youre better off in the future. would you have rather kept quite and not been made fun on an online forum, but blew up your tranny, or would you rather get a little fun poked at you, but saved some money on that trans? i think #2 is the better option. all we are saying is dont shift it yourself.

Good enough for me. Lol im just saying, who hasn't done stupid **** in their car before? It seemed to work ok but i guess it was just the computer doing the work.
I finally blew 2nd gear and was driving around in 1-3-4. I raced it on the interstate like a dumbass and blew a headgasket so bad it hydrolocked the engine due to water leaking down into the cylinder wall.
Glad you got an LS1..ur hooked.

oh i am definitley hooked.
Just to make sure, it's ok to start in first and shift your way up while at the dragstrip right? I'm sure that can probably blow your tranny too but seems as if it'd be more effective. I just left it in D in my truck.

The track is too narrow, they let bikes run WAY too often over cars, and they don't know what VHT is. Not to mention I like the 1/4th over the 1/8th.
Man if it were me Id leave it in drive and just brake stall it. The only time id probably put it in 1 is to do a burnout, then id bump it back into D.

yea but i mean greer is good just to get some runs in to try and improve. Theres no quarter mile tracks too close to where i can just drive 30 minutes to make a few passes like greer. I think once i get the car down to 7's in the eigth, i'll start running her at the quarter.
