Brake boosting is when you hold the brakes and step on the gas at the same time to build up boost so when you release the brake the turbo is spooled, eliminating lag.

another dumb question. why cant you just go into a smaller gear to get into high rpm's where the boost is??

you can but ...brake boosting is a much harder hit ... you just have to experience it

Good numbers. Like I said, I am thinking about a turbo setup for the z. I am just wondering what kind of PSI I could run safely on stock internals and compression ratio. The turbo kit comes with bigger injectors and the fuel pump, which is a plus, but I was thinking I wouldn't want anymore than 8PSI. What do you think?

When you race any turbo from a stand still you will find out! It is like you are doing a break stand to help feed more exhause to spool the turbo cause most turbos do not spool enough until about 4,000 rpms!

Sick car you have there OP!

Given all is well with the setup and the tune is spot on, 7-8lbs preferrably with meth, you should be ok on the stock block

So bravo, you would suggest a methanol injection as well?

Yes I would. For safety. It lowers IAT's and can be benificial in raising octane in the event you get a bad tank of gas or travel sumwhere that dosent have the octane your tuned for.

Without sum type of failsafe built into you ecu (i.e. big stuff ecu's) that'll prevent you from making boost if the meth system fails, I wouldnt advise tuning for meth/advancing your timing on it. If it fails for whatever reason, you'll be eating a piston before you know it.

How come in the first video you guys ran for what looked like a long distance and at the end the GTO speedometer looked like it only read 90mph ? is that right

Does you gto ecu let you brake boost? i know some newer cars wont let you gas n brake at the same time and they try to close the tb on you.

when you downshift and you're sitting on 4500+ rpms, you're not gonna be in boost, you'll still be below atmospheric pressure at a steady unloaded throttle. When u do this same thing and hold the brakes, it puts a load on the motor allowing the motor to try and spin the turbo, so when u let go of the brake the turbo is already spooled up and ready to rip so the car takes off more instantly (like the other guys said). It feels really odd to do the first few times attempted, but it sure does get the car movin out real quick!

Nice to see the GTO against the heavy weight of imports. Would a Vette with 550 whp have a chance against this supra?

Sorry, havent been here for a minute. My fastest time so far is 12.6@ 118.

The elevation here is 4300ft. and the track I went to is poorly prep'd w/ sand dunes on either side lmao!

I spin pretty bad all the way down the track. Either way, I really need to work on 60ft'ing this car and im sure my times will come way down. I'm looking for mid 11's on DR's
