Default 05 CTS-V vs Bolt on 2000 Z28

On the way home form the track on I95 I was cruising with my brother and some of his friends. His one friend has a 2000 Z28 M6 with long tubes, lid, y pipe, catback, 12 bolt, 4.10s and some suspension stuff. It is a base Z28 with cloth interior and hardtop.

Well i tried to run him a couple times and he wouldnt but we finally got a lot of room and lined up next to each other at 65. Im right in the sweet spot at 4000 in 3rd and we both nail it at the same time. I jump about a bumper on him and quickly go into 4th. At this point we are door to door until 125mph. I was about to go into 5th which i would have started to creep since he ran out of gear in 5th at this point due to the 4.10s. But we let out.

I was extremely happy since his car trapped 116mph last week at the track and my best was 108. The V is a highway car no doubt and 3rd and fourth it really pulls and at the track you only get into 4th for a couple seconds.

in all honesty i think the 4.10s were killing him as he was running out of gear, but thats his problem not mine lol.

very nice, did either of the cars have passangers?
I am not too sure that his car was trapping 116 even if it was a stripper model and he drives the **** out of it.

he had a passenger, he weighed about 180. my car with me weighs about 4100. his car is easily a couple hundred pounds less. I was there last week when he ran it so i know it traps that, and i also know hes not hiding any mods(nitrous, cam) he has a hard time doing major stuff like that.

116 sounds unreal.. Thats H/C/I territory.

good kil none the less. Stock gear rules on the long runs(but not on the track )

108mph win vs 116mph

something does not add up right there, his car does not trap 116 or maybe your car trap way more than 108

good run

i thought 116 was high but i figured with the lack of extra weight of his car helped a lot. my car is definetly not pulling till 3rd and fourth which im not using 4th at the track(well 2 seconds of 4th). the V is a horrible drag car so i believe that from rolls it is definetly underestimated. if you search anywhere online you will probably never see a stock V go into the 12s, but some trap as high as 110 in stock trim, shows the launching sucks(extremely bad wheel hop)

i hear you, i believe the 2000+ camaros had ls6 intakes. i have seen stock m6's go 12.9s at 109 so i didnt think 116 with gears, lt's ls6 intake, suspension and lower weight would be unattainable

He still should have had you, but not by a lot. He may have hit his shifts when he trapped 116mph but not this time.

Without the gears it would be really close. With the gears, he should have won. Regardless, it's a nice kill!

uMm... NO! 116mph would be cam only territory. If anyone is trapping 116mph with H/C/I then that's kinda sad. A guy I know has a full bolt on LS1 with a 9" rear and 390 gears and he traps 114mph

stock gears on the V are 3.73s so its a happy medium but it definetly rolls out up top and not down low.

Hmm. I thought it takes at least 420rwhp setups on a LS1 camaro to hit 116+mph? Without a big cam and LT, lid, ect. I just dont see it. Borla catback only my brothers 2001 Firebird M6 best time was 13.2 @ 105mph with a DA probably around 2000'. That extra 12mph is at least 100rwhp more than stock with his gears. Am I wrong?
