Not Impressed....
That is about one of my biggest pet peeve is people saying that racing in a straight line is not "real" racing or on a "real" track.. But doing AutoX is, its bull ****.
They are both racing, both have to have purpose built cars. There is no car in the world that I know of that absolutely shines at both. IE runs 7s and beats most cars at an AutoX event and/or a car is insanely fast at AutoX and then goes and runs 7s... Not going to happen.
In a straight line they aren't worth the money.. Taking the car in as a whole, HELL YES they are worth the money. So if all you care about is straight line (seems the OP does, along with many of us), most exotics are way over prices.
Me personally would buy a C6Z if I had the money to buy an "exotic" or high priced sports car. They hold their own and then some with all the exotics in every aspect but cost a fraction of what they do. Sure you may not get the "appeal" or "exclusivity".. But I don't live my life to impress others by a car I drive.
auto x is like 1/8 mile racing....useless ( way to short and not enough speed )in my book.
but we can all keep our ferrari orders on the books....

1/8 miles shows a lot.. Anybody that ***** on any other form of racing is a ratard (hangover)... They are all competitive, as long as the guy/s you are competing are doing the same thing, its all the same.
So basically with this theory.. Unless you race what (insert name of anyone here) whatever you are doing is useless/not real. It is what makes the world go around. I think autoX is about dumb, but it is just as real and useful as 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile or 1 mile..

I'm not worked up at all.. Just confuses me as to why people say/think some of the things like that. I only care about 1/8 mile because that is what my car is built for. Just because you would smoke me in 1 mile race and I would smoke you in 1/8 mile doesn't mean that the other one is useless.. Just means you don't like it or I don't like it.. Not saying either of those would happen, just an instance.

Ive got to own and test drive some kool cars...
A viper or C6Z06 are faster than most cars....And your paying $$$ for that 500 PLUS horsepower engine....But the reality is that just about any camaro or mustang with 10K invested will be just as fast at the 1/4 mile...
I love the Vipers Ive had...BUT I KNOW THIS IS TRUE..
My nsx..While even with the supercharger isnt the fastest car out their and my Viper even when close to stock trapped a good 10 mph higher in the 1/4 mile 113 mph for the nsx vs 124 mph....
BUT................You can be doing 80 mph in the nsx and with one finger do a very fast lane change any time you wish..Ive even done quick lane changes at 100 mph in the nsx...In the viper you have to have brass ***** to do this and I never felt comfortable enough to do it...
the point is that I could spend 20K on suspension modification ect. on the already impressive handling srt10 and never come close to the way the nsx feels///
The nsx's front wheels are right at the front of the car and the engine is in the back over the rear wheels...No amount of modification will duplicate that feeling...
Pretty easy to make any car MUCH faster...makeing a car handle MUCH better is not nearly as easy.....
BTW...Before anyone pulls out mag times...Yea Im sure you can find a mag time where a srt10 viper or even c5z06 got around a road course faster than a nsx..ive seen them....But those where professional drivers...Go drive a mid/rear engined nsx/ferrari ect. and then you will see just how much development goes into these types of cars...
