While proof is always nice, anything can happen. Here is a fair example of that: two friends racing eachother, one with his bone stock mid 14sec car and the other with his 11sec N2O fed mustang, first guy goes in knowing he has a much slower car. As they race the guy in the mustang hits the nitrous, the fuel richens but the bottle is empty and he bogs down and loses the race. Just because someone should win a race, doesn't mean their setup is going to perform properly due to mechanical failure or user error. Did the guy in the slower car lose every subsequent race? Absolutely, but he still has that one timeslip showing he won and gets to call his friend a jackass for not checking his stuff first.

That being said, yeah there are a lot of story tellers out there and if you identify one, just don't read any of the threads he starts. Be the bigger man and move on with your life.

This reminds me of the one thread where the F body driver was bragging about how he beat a Ferrari. Once again, the other guy wasn't racing you. A sport bike or a Ferrari on its worst day would never have to worry about an F-bod...

Indeed. Modern 600s are high 10s all day with a good rider. With just a $20 -1 front sprocket, power commander, and a full exhaust my zx6r has done 10.3 with minimal track time on it, and I bet it would be quicker with more practice. This is with only a handful of performance mods, and not even a grand invested.

A local has a mid 9second zx6r with a STOCK INTERNAL motor - stretched with nasty high gearing (-2/+5 so he traps in 6th) and basically a dumped header .

The salesman I bought my bike from a few years ago at cycle sports center has an 8 second zx14 on the stock wheelbase, and he sometimes brings it to the showroom. The damn thing looks stock.

That's why these bike kill stories from bolt-on/cam only cars make my rofl. Its a whole other ballgame with crotch rockets. The slowest 600 crotch rocket with the worst rider can still pull 12's easily.

i dunno about that. there are some slow ferraris out there,at least by this board's standards. i wouldn't race them on a curvy downhill road or anything though. yours is the last of the stock fbodies.

Good runs. If you had the corvette motor, you would have taken him.

I always look at things from a road-racing, road course point of view. Drag racing to me is a waaaaay distant afterthought...

REALLY? Some Ferraris are not that fast. I watch some newer 360s run high 12s at the track. I'm not comparing an F-body to a Ferarri, but in a straight line its really not that far-fetched. And I beat a 05 GSXR600 on my CBR, the guy payed up and mumbled somthing like "bet i'd beat that slow camaro" when he was walking away. So I told him double or nothing. (i'm a very spiteful person) Anyway, we took off and he pulled one hell of a wheelie for a fat guy on a 600. By the time he landed I was out front. He was pulling me the whole time but just couldn't catch up. I almost couldn't believe it. He is now the punchline to all racing jokes around here. I know what bikes are capable of, (mine goes 10.4x almost stock) but with a dumb/fat enough rider anything is possible.

Let the flaming begin....

what about trapp speeds though?

lets say you have a 460 rwhp fbody that runs 12.2 at 120 mph off a 2.1 60 foot...

What does a stock 600 trapp in the 1/4 mile? I know they probally have crazy 1.x 60 foots and that why they run 10's..But what about trapp speed?

From a roll would a 460 rwhp 120 mph 1/4 mile Fbody be a match for a stock one? Or do they trap 130 mph????

I think mine traps at ~135 (10.4) but its a 1100cc. I'm guessing the new 600s are good for 125+ mph. To beat a fi 1000 from a roll in a Camaro you almost need boost. After I raced the 600 I tried a modded 09 R1 from a roll and got DESTROYED. He would have put buslengths on me if we kept going.

125mph is a spot-on guess for an average 600 with a good rider.

Actually its usually the other way around. The 60's are generally not as good right off the line as a drag prepped f-body unless your bike is lowered, stretched, strapped, and you are Rossi. The front just comes up too fast at any decent throttle. A bone stock one is anywhere from high 10s to high 11s depending on rider, but any noob can hop on one and trap at least 120 easily no matter what they ET.

Thanks to the joys of a stalled auto my little LT1's last build murdered my bike off the line with violent high 1.5x 60's compared to lame high 1.7s on one wheel on the bike...but it only ran 11.7's at 116 compared to mid 10s with a best mph of 130.6!!! I can totally screw up a run, ET in the 11's, and still trap close to 130 @ the top of 5th....it falls hard on its face after that, and can barely eek out 150mph with the new gearing, but who cares about top speed besides high schoolers and ricers? .

The fbody has a much better 60' and a lot more hp but is still murdered on the back end by a tiny little 115rwhp 600.

The moral of the story is, if the rider can even remotely ride its not smart to **** with a modded crotch rocket . I will have more money into my car then I paid for my bike brand new, and it still will likely be a few tenths slower motor to motor. If ETs are all you care about cars have two wheels too many - sell it and get a zx14 to run 8s all day with minimal mods .

PS: Sorry for the long hijack of the lame thread
