Default raced a benz

i was cruising down 635 when i see a civic and a supra cruising infront of me. they were holding up traffic so i jumped over a lane and passed in third gear to see if i could get the supra to bite. no luck. but i did get passed by a silver two door mercedes at a high rate of speed. i speed up to catch. after playing around a little, we finaly got a race in. we went from an 80 punch, third gear he couldn't do anything with me. but fourth, he put a little over a car on me. DAMN that car pulled good in fourth.


tonights lesson: those f*****g 469 hp mercedes are no joke.

I had an oppurtunity to drive a new E55 on Christmas day - it had less then 500 miles on it. I can without a doubt say that is the baddest car I've driven. It would more then likely walk a stock Z06 on the street and would absolutely wax a F-body. I've been in Ferrari's, Viper's, M5's and Porsche 911 turbo's. The E55 beats them all!!! The E55 is a great balance of luxury, power, handling and braking! I was driving around with 3 of my friends all of us are 200+ lbs. and when I would get on it - the beast just took off. When I tried that in my Camaro - the only thing that wanted to take off was my clutch!

you put two 200+ guys in the back of a camaro?! How, with a crowbar?

seriously though, those german luxobarges have been packing some seroius ***** lately. They are just not geared for the low end. Remember, in theory they're tuned for CRUISING at 100mph or so on the autobahn, and make power there. If you wanna race one, once you get past 70 or 80mph, watch the **** out. I saw a video a couple months back of a bone stock E55 repeatedly beating a 2003 cobra with CAI, cat-back, pully, chip, and drag radials that pulled 452rwhp on the dyno. Those rich old men in mercedes are nothing to **** with anymore.

I agree! The BMW M3 will give many a stock LS1 and Mach 1 driver more then he/she can handle. Watch out for the BMW M5 too! They're both great handling cars that'll tear up even my Mach 1--and I'm a pretty good driver in the twisties.

I saw a BMW z8 the other day; now, that's a crazy car.

Nice death. If it was a 2 door and not a vert, then it was probably the CL55AMG. Quite possibly one of the prettiest coupes on the planet......and 493hp at the crank. Same with the E55AMG sedan that LEO was talking about. Sam engine bit they rated it conservatively at 469 even though it is the same set up as any of the other 55AMGs. I had heard that MTI put a stock E55AMG on their dyno and it put down 460rwhp!!!!! and even more torque. SO while they are heavy, they move on out. The mags proclaim aorund low 12s at 116....right at ZO6 territory. But they are automatics and can do it over and over and over. SO if the ZO6 driver ain't on his best game, he is toast. And Scarecrow, while the intent of these MBs are the Autobahn, they are packing over 500lb/ft of torque. SO to say they have no low end would be a mistake. I am a huge fan of them and they are the pimpest of pimp. I don't know what they CL55AMG costs but the SL is close to 120 grand. And the E55AMG comes in around 75 grand.....almost seems like a bargain.

BTW, there will be a CL65AMG.....twin turbo V12 at 612hp/738tq. They say those are detuned numbers for driveline reliability....yikes!!!!

FLYNLO, the CL65 was reported to have made just over 700 hp and 800 ft/lbs. of torque!!! However, like you said they had to detune the V-12 twin turbo to make just over 600 hp. The E55 is definitely the bargain of the bunch, my friend bought it for sticker right at 80K. Same exact engine as the SL 55 but about 300-400 lbs lighter and comfortably seats 4 - what's not to like? Except that I can't afford one yet.
