If you noticed the carreraGT defiently gets pulled .......But it wasnt quite a MASS MURDER..More like a sold KILL...Thats how fast a carrera GT is...I would have thought the ZR1 would have put 20 cars on it instead of the 8 or so that it did..Thats why I looked up the carrera testing specs..

0-150 mph in 13 seconds is FAST!!!!
Yeah, considering LS1 cars run mid 13's stock at ~105ish lol. So by the time we hit 100 that thing's going 150.

Hmmm....around here lots of folks do over 150 in less than 9 seconds. Just doesn't seem that fast to me. I'm waiting for a video of INTMD8's old C6 Z06. It was sold to someone in Dubai for the exact reason of hwy flying. Twin turbos at about 800RWHP when he was done tuning it. Here's the vid.

I'm sure theres some guy out there laying waste to lots of exotic cars with American Iron ( yellow Z06.)

I have no doubt a modded ZR1 would do that to a CGT but that CGT was awfully quiet and sounded like it was shortshifting. I had a ride in one and it just didn't seem right to me.

A stock ZR1 has a close-ratio 6spd and is in 5th by 150mph and is gear limited to 217mph. It hits 150mph in the 16-17 second range.

I got the impression that they both started in 4th gear or so.

nonthings gonna seem fast to you..your trapping 150 mph in the 1/4 mile...

But honestly with enough money anything can be fast..A TT forged engined LS7 is BIG MONEY!!!!

The carrera GT runs that 0-150 in 13 seconds STOCK......And The ZR1 didnt seem to have too many mods...Thats why it's so impressive...

But I get what your sayin..My friends supercharged/juiced 1997 GTS Viper with 750 rwhp went 9.9 at 140 mph...Probally dust both those cars..But again he is farrr from stock so it dosent seem as impressive to me

So in order for a car to be fast to you, it has to run 7 second quarter miles?

C6 Z06s dont have a top speed like that either.... No pull in 6th, just OD gear.
Correct. That is a ZR1.

The reason why the ZR1 pulls so hard up top is because, unlike ANY OTHER GM sportscar/musclecar with a 6 speed, it is geared to actually race in 5th AND 6th gear. The ZR1 gearset has NO OD gears unlike the 5th gear in the Z06... its a bog monster! Find any video of a Z06 (the recent video on here versus a 991 comes to mind) listen how it slows down HARD when shifted WOT at redline into 5th. The z06 5th is like the 6th gear in the ZR1... goes to 200mph++ but being one gear instead of having a 5th (ZR1) to get you there harder the Z06 just slows down drastically.

So, yes, the ZR1 has great gearing for monster top end.... I'm eventually going to swap over to the 5th/6th ZR1 gears... cheap mod and should get me to 200mph faster than the junk 5th gear I have now.

I hear what you're saying but the costs for a new ZR1 versus used C6 Z06 and upgrading with modifications. There's two vendors out there selling a turn key twin turbo package for the C6 Z06. One of which allows you to keep your long block which you can sell to re-coup a portion of the costs.

C6 Z06 Used with 30K miles: $40,000.00
Turnkey TT package installed: $45,000.00
Total: $85,000.00 @ 1100HP Crank and 1000RWHP

ZR1 pricing: $107,000.00 @ 638HP Crank and 530-550RWHP

That's a $22,000.00 savings.

Below are some details on such a build:

1100 FWHP(1000+rwhp) Twin Turbo Supercar build, Retains A/C, Stock-like Street Manners, Drive in, Drive out, Turn-key package
427” Extreme Warhawk LS7 Dry Sump Engine: ·Warhawk LS7X Aluminum Block

·Callies Dragonslayer crankshaft

·Oliver billet LS7 connecting rods
·ET Performance LS7 CNC 255cc heads
·Diamond LS7 Custom Forged boost pistons

∑ET Stage 4 valve spring upgrade

·Comp cams custom grind

·More Warhawk Link Bar Lifters

·HD 3/8” Chrome Moly Pushrods
·MLS Head Gaskets, ARP Fasteners
·C6R Timing Chain
·Full Race Machine Work and Assembly

Twin, state of the art, extreme efficiency, super compact, Garrett GT35R twin ball bearing turbochargers
TWIN Massive APS DR Series Vertical Flow, Bar & Plate Front Mount Intercoolers with unique cast alloy end tanks
Polished Stainless Steel ducting and custom high durability reinforced silicon hoses
High Energy cast High Silicon/Moly iron and precision machined exhaust manifolds
High Output 1000HP fuel system including injectors
Twin High Flow Cold Air Intake System, w/Lifetime Filters
Twin High Volume Tial Blow Off Valves
Twin High Volume Tial Wastegates
Twin 3" mandrel formed/TIG welded 304 Stainless Steel High Output Exhaust system
New Spark Plugs and Wires
All Required Gaskets and Fluids
Mcloed Twin Disk 1200+HP Capable Clutch and Flywheel
900HP Street/Race Fuel System, LS1/LS2, Forced Induction, w/75# Injectors
Professional R/R with Installation of all upgrades and Turbo System
Fully Dyno tuned w/2.5bar Speed Density Conversion
UNLIKE other Z06 packages, there are NO core charges, your stock LS7 longblock can stay intact for later replacement or sell it to recoup part of your investment
----------------------------------------------
But hey a stock ZR1 is a very cool car and is fast as hell. Definitely an eye catcher also. Plus you have a factory warranty.

Not at all. Low 10 second car doing 145-150's in the 1/4 is damned fast with a manual. On the hwy that car would be killer. Bugatti Veyrons do low 10's in the 1/4.

I guess I'm not being fair to the ZR1 but to be honest I just think you can build something faster with similar characteristics out of a C6 Z06. The ZR1 is a badass car for being stock. I'd be curious to see how far people can take the ZR1 by modifying it.

You are absolutely INcorrect:

5th: 0.81:1 overall 2.77:1 top speed (6500) 186
6th 0.67:1 overall 2.29:1 top speed est (5950) 205*

There is a difference in gearing vs. the Z-06, but the other part is it has 604ft lbs at 3800rpm vs. the Z-06 470ft lbs at 4800rpm.

with all that said at the end of the day one car is still a zr1 and the other just a Z06..Do people really talk about C5Z06's any more..Or are they forgotten since the C6Z06 came out..

When the C7z06 comes out people wont care about the C6Z06..You can already get 2006 Z06's for 40K..Few years from now that will be 30K..

The Zr1's are totally differant. A 1991 ZR1 was around 60K. And even 20 years later still demand a hefty price....With the ZR1 your buying a RARE peice of vette history. With the Z06 your just buying a vette...

Again you can make anything fast. But the Zr1 cost 110K PLUS because it trapps 133 mph in the 1/4 mile verses the Z06's best ever 128 mph...5 mph stock for stock in an *** whoopin..

Thats why the Zr1 is so impressive

My problem is that when I buy something I drive the hell out of it. If I had a car that I was worried about I woudln't really drive the damned thing. I know lots of car collectors who do that crap. Not me. I'd be putting new pullies on it and thrashing it. Doesn't make sense for me. But the folks who want a collectors item go for it. If you want brutal speed then get the C6 Z06 modify it and will blow away the competition for a lot less.
