Default LT1 vs '66 Chevy C10

well i ran against my buddies little old black Chevy. just an old regular cab short bed (stepside) truck. has a cammed gen I SBC, long tubes, Turbo 400, 1900rpm stall (still don't get why he went with that, the truck had a 3300rpm stall when he bought it), and 3.73 open diff 12-bolt out back. went from a 20mph roll to 80mph (where he runs out of gearing). right off the bat he jumps half a car on me, but by the top of 1st i'm already pulling him back in. by 80mph, i've got 1.5 cars on him.

now with the cam he has, he should have slaughtered me. the problem with his truck is he still has stock valve springs, so he starts getting valve float at about 5k rpm. his cam makes power from 3500rpm-7200rpm. i want to buy that truck, change the valve springs, put a posi in it, and just let her scream

it looks almost exactly like this except with rally wheels and black
