Default 95 Cobra vs. 4th Gen Camaro LT

I am not sure on the year of the Camaro exactly, but it sounded sick as hell and had the pre-LS style headlights (pardon my lack of knowledge of Chevy bodies). On my way back from my brother's house after a night of (watching) at the track (waiting on my slicks). I cruise by a black nice looking Camaro at 70, he is behind a semi, He immediately gets in the left lane and lines his bumper right up with mine after I get in the right lane. I honked, but I don't think he got the idea, so he just took off. He got the hit by a car length, and I dropped it into 3rd which put me at about 4500, I wrap out 3rd, shift at 5800, and walk by him easily, 4th is more of the same and in the end I let off when I have 6-8 lengths on him. I got off my exit and gave him a thumbs up, he threw the bird to me, no biggie lol. Oh yeah my car is a 1995 Cobra 308 with AFR 165s, TFS 1 cam, stock Cobra intake, BBK shorties, Pypes O/R X, 70mm TB with 3.73s, car is un-tuned. It was a nice way to end the night! Just for future reference, any way (other than headlights) to tell an LT1 from an LS1?

rectangular shaped exhaust outlets = LT1
Black "Z28" fender badges + LT1
There is a difference in body shape, too (rear window area I believe) but I'm not sure- but in this case, it's safe to say you beat a LT1 since LS1's are obviously wayy to fast for you. just kidding! Nice kill and sorry for the lack of respect from the redneck. Sometimes I just don't get it: if a car that when stock is slower than me, but beats me: than I gotta give kudos to a guy who knows what he is doing. Oh well, some people just need to grow up!

Thanks guys! ...and to the comment about LS1's being way too fast (*cough*********cough*), I've duked it out with my dad's (98 z28 w/ exhaust and SLP lid) and from a stop I kill but from a roll it's closer, his best chance is high speeds, like real high as in 90-100+. It's all in fun, though, always somebody faster. Soon I will be getting the lower ported (intake) and if funds allow, a tune, so then I will hurt some more feelings around my area! I'm not too worried about some people flipping the bird, some guys get all bent outta shape when they lose, and there's such a variety of attitudes, too, for instance when I had my 87 Coupe, I raced a Twin Turbo Mitsu 3000 GT VR-4 from a 20 roll and pulled him by about 2 car lengths until we let off, and of course my stereotyping *** assumed he'd be all ricer-like and flip the bird, dude pulled over where I got off and was super cool and we BS'd about cars for a while. There's douchebags in every kinda car but that shouldn't be seen as the norm, but when they're ******** like that it makes me want to embarrass them

Thanks for the tip on the LT's and LS's btw, I'll pretty much stick to eye-ing the headlights and the black badges.

Just so you know, I have an LS1 Z28, and my fender badges are black, just as they are on every Z28. The headlights and taillights (LS1s have an amber light) are the only giveaways (if stock).

Don't forget all 1997 Camaro's have amber taillights as well, along with the 5-spoke wheels that were standard on all 1998-2000 Camaro's. The only real way to tell the difference is from the front.

Good run. Anywhere we can check out your Cobra? There's just something about the pushrod SN95s. I miss my '95 GT.

As far as the square tips and black badges are concerned, my 98 had them as well. 1997 LT1s have the "LS1 style" taillights, dash, console and wheel selection. Like mentioned before, the only true way to tell is by looking at the front end.
