I remember reading this when it was first posted.

Awesome story and kill. I wish street racing today was the same way it was years ago.

Glad this story was rebumped. Haven't read a great kill story in sometime. What year did this all take place? Some pretty awesome cars mentioned.

Well, back then 35 bucks probably would have put a lot of gas in your daily driver, but still way short of 4 grand. Lol. Nice kill and nice story, man.

Well, I would say it is all a matter of semantics. First, there is no official designation. It is just a relative term. People say it is not a big block simply because they have the same "external dimensions". However, the smaller Pontiac motors (326, 350) cannot be bored to 455 piston sizes. Also the crankshaft main saddles on the smaller motors (326, 350, 389 & 400) are a quarter inch smaller on the small motors. So, while all of those motors may have the same external dimensions, they do not all have the same displacement capability. If you really need to argue the semantics, you could state that the bastard 301 is Pontiac's "small block". Anyway you look at it, it is 455 cubic inches. And, that was the point in the story.
