SS on the autobahn

Check out my post #55. I ran a 911 for about 60 miles. Gave him a good run, too.

A stock LS1 should go about 155-160 topped, and a car with your mods and dyno should absolutely destroy that. I would suggest looking at your tune. Maybe you have some kind of limiter or tune issue that is drastically cutting power by fuel or timing at that rpm...
To the other commenter, this guy's car makes 485rwhp. He shouldn't have a problem with a 911 turbo new or old. That said, he also shouldn't have a problem breaking 160.

Oh yeah, I'm in Baumholder, Germany with my Corvette. 165mph so far with a friend on the autobahn. I've been that fast on public roads before, but obviously not legally. Not being afraid of running by a cop is kinda cool.

He's got a 416 stroked LS3 with ported AFR205's, ported FAST, big cam and lots of supporting suspension mods and you are saying that a new 911 would leave him standing still? Are you crazy? Sure they handle better than even his modded suspension SS, but we are talking high speed gradual curves in the road: not flicking back and forth like the Nurburgring. And his power means that any straightaway he would reel back in any distance the Porsche put on him even if it could corner better at high speed.
FYI shorter wheelbase cars like the Porsche excel in lower speed corners where there ability to quickly rotate more than makes up for the heavy rear weight bias. At high speed sweepers, longer wheelbase vehicles are more stable and controllable.

^^^^ You my friend are not very bright....he stated he had his car dead to the floor and was doing 160. A new 911 turbo will go well over 160mph hence it will walk away since its accelerating past 160.
Im not saying his car wont roll out but on the autobahn when you can actually get to top speed, 160 isnt that fast compared to the 911 turbos, zr1s etc.
Id also have to say id rather be going 160+ in a 911 turbo then a 2001 Fbody....thats just me though.
To the OP, not putting your car down and i know you werent racing a new 911 so good run.

Schweinfurt?? I was out in Giessen, 45 minutes from Frankfurt.. And I know the feeling of running those European cars... From a slower roll I destroyed the majority.. But, their freaking top end is what ultimately get you.. But, good run man.. I miss those wide open days...

If you read through the origional thread, you'll see that I have verified that I still have the top speed limiter on my car. And, frankly, I (currently) don't want to go any faster. 160 is equal to 234.6 feet per second. Think about that.
If I ever remove the limiter, it will be after I have 6 piston front calipers, 4 piston rears, stainless steel brake lines and also after I installed my Strano lowering springs. 160 is hauling ***, and until you've done it for multiple miles at a time, you won't understand the logistics of high speeds.
Thanks for reading guys. I will try to continue updates to my exploits here in Bavaria as I get them.

It's already been established that the OP still has the limiter on his car. Once that is removed he will walk all over that 993, at any speed.
